Hey Pij, I haven't flown a plane with spoilers but the standard way to setup flaps or crow is to have forward throttle = no flaps - rearward throttle = full flaps. That makes the braking behave similar to the throttle in a powered plane (ie forward = fast, back = slow). I'm pretty sure you'd want to setup spoilers the same way.

Those were my thoughts when I reversed the throttle setup, for the same reasons. But it felt a bit odd flying this way, as I'm used to gliding on zero throttle with electric planes, and with my Duck I usually have the (unused) throttle position at zero while flying. But I suppose cutting the throttle to zero for a landing should feel familiar for me.

I think it can come down to the plane and personal choice, with my Miraj I use the crow braking, so that is the flaps deploying and the ailerons going up. They also call it 'butterfly', I have this setup on the throttle stick but activate it from a switch. I find myself either pushing up or down on the throttle stick in flight, bad habit. On the RES models like your Rico, i have the flight mode switch do the spoilers. Step 1 all down, step2 half, step 3 all up. But thats just me growing up flying res models and not using flight modes back then. I'll do the same with the Sagitta i think, have the flight mode position the spoilers. On top of all that you can mix the life out of all of them, spoilerons, flaperons, butterfly(mentioned above) camber the trailing edge, etc etc.
Dale, yes, thats it, that was his name, good bloke, stick with him and he will show you the ropes with thermalling.
