We won't be posting any speeds from Qld for a while. Our house got broken into today. Never happened to us before, and definitely not a nice feeling. Anyway, one of the things they took was my Prospeed radar gun.
If anyone sees one pop up on Ebay or elsewhere, please let me know. Andrew

Bastards! I hope you have some success getting your stuff back and hope the thief/thieves wake up to themselves. I actually have much stronger feelings about burglars but I'll keep them to myself .

Thanks Brian. Right now I think my feelings about burglars probably agree with yours! We should have a beer and a very frank, graphic and R-rated (for violence) discussion about the things we'd do if we caught one.

MAN THAT SUX I had my shed broken it to about 6 months ago. I went down to cash converters that afternoon and they had all my gear (planes, motors, radio gear, and 1 honda mower worth $2000). so try there.
Hope all goes well.
Cheers Garth

That's really bad news Andrew, bad for you but also for all the guys that have been getting so much enjoyment from finding out their top speeds . I hope they didn't steal other items which can't be easily replaced. Not a pleasant feeling at all, I hope the police get them - did they get any prints? Gerard

Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that! It's gotta show up somewhere, there can't be too many guns like that in Brisbane? At least losing the radar gun won't keep you out of the air .

very sorry to hear anbout your bad news andrew, let's hope they don't know how to work it and take it to cash converters, garth gives good advice, about 20 years ago my friend had his surfboard stolen from his car outside my house at noosa and about 3 weeks later as we were driving past cash converters at marooychdore what do you think we saw sitting out the front in the racks? straight to the cop shop and then board back, hope that's how it goes for you
kind regards nick

Thanks guys. I posted it on RC Groups as well, and it's surprising how many people have had a similar experience to Nick ... stuff appearing at a local Cash Converters. Some guys have rather strong feelings about them supporting drugs and crime.
This is the first time we've been "done" but as some of you would unfortunately have experienced, it's not just losing the stuff - it's the huge amount of hassle to get it replaced, even if you're insured. Just trying to work out what they've taken and make up comprehensive lists with descriptions. Trying to prove ownership, not having serial numbers, etc, etc. It's not like we didn't have enough to do already.
The best thing anybody can do to help us is visit as many pawnbrokers/ cash converters as you wish and enquire about a radar gun (AKA speed gun) and a MacBook Pro 15" laptop. The gun is a bright yellow, Prospeed CR1-K in a large black padded camera carry bag. The MacBook is silver. Both look new. Can't remember if my name is on it.
My wife Janet had a couple of big medals (she's a lot more brainy than me) - a Lady Lilley Medal, and a University Medal. These are really rare items so we'll be looking hard in the bling cabinets at Cash Converters for those.

Persistence can pay off. A mate of mine years ago had a brand new GPZ900 stolen from Breaky Creek. He looked at every bike ad in the local papers and got his mates to look out to. About 3 months later he went to look at a bike at the Gold Coast. In the back of the garage was his bike stripped down (He confirmed the frame number) A call to the cops, 9 months later after court case he got the bike back and parts of other bikes they couldn't find an owner for. It ended up being a bike theft gang and they did get convicted.
Hopefully it doesn't take that long, but don't give up. Especially the personal items they are out there somewhere. Got one of those Hash Convertors down the road I'll have a peek later today.

andrew. i should have video footage of your speed gun from when i was in brisbane... if your insurance company needs a photo or the like, let me know and i'll go through what i have for ya.
like others said... when i had cd's stolen from my car, i went to every 2nd hand shop in Rocky, if they didn't have them i informed them they were stolen. about 1 or 2 weeks later i had a call from the cops that they caught the guys.
