I'm keen to try out this place some time Andrew. I'm motivated to get a new ship airborne this weekend for the christmas party, and then after that, I'm gonna be keen as to try some places. Until such time as I have a rig that'll DS, I'm not going to bother going out to places that are worth DSing.

I edited up a nice vid, but when I uploaded to Youtube, the quality was pitiful. So I have put a less edited version on. youtube.com/watch?v=A64dTHIU-Y4 Pretty frustrating as this is High Def footage and it is barely visible on youtube. Anyone know of another way to get the quality up? I might just have to make shorter clips. Eric Ezza I have had better luck with vids recently with imageshack video hosting, I guess because its not quite as popular as YT. They seem to offer a better AVI download bandwith, no promises but it might be worth a try. Anyway that was an enjoyable vid because I havent been to that place since 1997! Could hear the model jetting past too, nice.

I had a message from Atmosteve, who after our belated (and becalmed) New Years "bash" is visiting friends at various places and trying a few flying sites.
He reported that he flew at Gowrie Mountain yesterday and he thinks it might have DS potential. Quote"
"Its a 250 m long extinct volcano rim facing east about 1000 feet or more up, state land and accesable by foot after driving 2/3 of the way up. The locals said it was cool to wander up there, people parasail off it. Its 15 minutes west of toowwoomba.
The lift is, well,,, awesome ... My poor loaded up bee didnt know what hit it, but too its credit it held together in the air, I wonder if it will ever move that fast again there is a group of small low shrubby trees at the northern end that are perfect to land in, the mountain top is a bit rocky. Will put some photos up later. If and when i have a model that is designed to be flown at a place like this i will be back in shot. And i think in would like a radar gun too.

It is usually a fair bit windier up on the Toowoombah plateau when the SE'ers are blowing, as opposed to any slopes down to the east of Toowoombah. Eric

Hey guys, I havnt been flying for just too long now, although plan to make up for it very soon.
I am sorry to have missed your new years bash, for the company by the sounds of it, if not the flying. My coro stryker would have been good as trying to make my transmitter fly itself. Maybe theres some interest in swapping some skype, msn or similar details between ourselfs for the sake of some more planned meetups? or just to discuss where we think is best to head, real time, before we head out. Anyone got a sat connection to a laptop? we could have on site contact, or even streaming video! (per usual, taking it to far, ha) PM me if your interested.
To keep on topic here, i am heading down to Byron Bay/Lennox head/Ballina for a whole week, next week. Nothing to do exept for boating, fishing, diving and... ofcoarse, flying. Im taking the trusty (and super tough) styker, the "old" dazy (head hunter) with its nasty bits removed and a good amount of epp worked into the nose, and my foam stryker. All in all, i should get some exiting flying in on what looks to be some extreem slopes, at least for me. Ive even "google earth"ed a few DS possibilities down there. With about 100 k's of possibilities to cruise. Anyone familiar with the area? I know they glide around the area, and ive found many a photo with hang gliders either the focus, or just in the background of some beautifull shot. Breath taking scenery at the best of times, and if i can just hope for a little wind....
Look foward to catching up with some of you over the weekend up at SC. Just going to go have a look at the forcast now, wind wind wind, please! (cant believe i missed out on that crazyness of the past few weeks, to get time, and have nothin!)

Hey Rossco,
Let me know when you are down. I'll be working pretty flat out but, I will get out when I can for a fly. I'll be able to atleast point you to the best places for the conditions.

anyone tried hastings point in nsw? it's in between the border n byron bay on the coast.......can fly in any wind direction with excellent lift and a southern grass side that is like landing on a matress! awesome fishing, diving, canoeing and camping down there too. go there quite regulary and it's bloody great! also had alot of fun soaring the low sand dunes at pottsville (just down the road) with a motorless electra and a fling.
