Hey fellow windsockers i know this is easy to do myself, but what should i get as my first mouldy i really like the look of the vector (AND THE PRICE TAG ) but i also if possible would like an awesome all rounder, and to me it seems like thats it, but i am open to suggestions, but please dont go suggesting 20 different planes, as four or five is enough! i really dont want to buy anything too expensive, and preferably all set up ready to go, as this way it means more flying time considering my situation with the navy etc.... regards, Jarred

i should add - i really dont want to pay more then 600-700 all up... :C From Hutton.. Ellipse 2V Much loved Ellipse 2V, repair on one wing panel after mid air long ago. Flies great (just like an Ellipse 2V). Great for slope and flat field. Brand new tailplane, and the other as a spare (after repair). Ballast etc. MG JR servo's in wings (pre digital) and Hitec MG225 on Rudder/elevator. Has 8 Ch 36 MHz RX installed. Definitely 2.4 GHz friendly. $700 ono from... www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14227815&postcount=194You can have my Pike Plus for same sort of money

Carbon bird or a glass bird would be are good start. Vectors dont last very long if you want to go fast.....

Yes I would go for the 60' size if DSing is the focus.
I thought you were looking for an awesome allrounder?
Forget the bigger moldies

The Bird is definitely a good allrounder if you keep it light, and capable of over 200mph unmodified. They fly in really light wind, up to the strongest wind you can fly in. I do think there are better frontside planes though, but as a frontside/DS allrounder they're hard to beat.
Joe Manor is going to be selling D60s soon, apparently they'll cost US$450, which is good value compared to the competition. You can bet they'll be just about the best 60" DSer you can buy. Joe says on a post on RCG that the aerofoil is good for frontside but I can't see it being as good as the Bird in light air.

a glass bird would be ok for Qld sites but they dont have flaps so the carbon version may be better, i think they get close to 200mph. Andrew is the guy to talk to. falcongliders.com.au/
