The synthetic tyres on the pulley wheels that the band-saw blade runs on started to disintegrate.
The place I bought the band-saw from ten years ago did not carry any spares. The only place in Brisbane that was able to supply new liners for the pulley wheels quoted $65.00 each or $195.00 for three.
I can buy a new band-saw for $275.00. The saw had been working perfectly and had never given any trouble so I turned to the Internet for help.
An American firm makes these tyres to order in sets of three for $26.95 US. Other suggestions included using strips of rubber glued in place. Large rubber bands, bands cut from car and motor bike inner tubes, masking tape and duct tape.
This suggestion piqued my interest as I had a roll to hand.
Fifteen minutes work had multiple layers of tape on each wheel and the saw back in service running like new.
All the replies came in the same day. A wonderful place the Internet.

I agree, it's a great feeling when you can quickly get a solution like that!
