If you host at ImageShack, you can post the link, or the thumbnail, or the full-sized image, or a re-sized image. I usually resize to 800 pixels manually before uploading. Still, if I feel the pics are an optional accessory to a post, I post the thumbnail. If, however, I feel the pics are essential to the post, I post the 800 pixel pic to Windsock. Using thumbnails saves bandwidth for the viewer who may not want to see the image, and also saves bandwidth for ImageShack.

The headers on the "reply section" on this "STICKY - How do I post some pictures?" thread are different from the headers elsewhere in this forum. It is missing the section which says "Attachments".This makes it hard to use as a test forum. Perhaps we should have a separate test forum.I'm still trying to master how to post multiple images. Yes I have read what you have written, but the lack of a dedicated test forum means that I will have to start experimenting on the regular forums. I have tried here, but the headers in the reply section are different as I mentioned. "Attachment: (Maximum Size: 1,024.0 KB - Attachment Agreement)" should appear on the reply options menu as the first option below "Subject". windsock.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buildthreads&action=display&thread=1076In this post Chris says... you can preview your post to see if the picture has been attached. I have found that if you preview your post the attachment disappears. You cannot check if the pictures are there before posting. I've spent too long trying to nut this out. I think I will have to pay Mike or Garth a visit. I must be missing something basic. I can post single images but not multiple.

you can check to see if the pictures are there before you post, you must be just missing a little step somewhere, and btw it took me a while to work it out too so don't feel bad, and go se mike or gath as they live close regards nick

Up till now I didn't know there was any "attachment" option! Anyway I googled it had a read about it and we have a total of 100mb available for attachments, and they can't be over 1mb each.
I logged on as admin and yes, you're right, for some reason certain threads including this one did not have the attachment option turned on. So I've fixed it on all of them and you should be able to insert attachments now. I'll try it out.

Yeah that worked OK. I noticed that it will only allow attachments to be added to posts from the time the option was turned on. You can't add attachments to old posts.
ALSO ... it doesn't show the attachment in the "Most Recent Posts" list. But if you click on the thread they're there.
Please try to keep the file sizes down as it won't take long to reach 100mb and we'll have to start deleting attachments.
Also as time goes on, it would be a big help if members went back and deleted any old attachments if they're no longer useful.

[brown]Chris has made a "Photobucket" for Windsock.[/brown] [brown]Use it to upload pics for the forum.[/brown](I have plagiarised this article from the post by chamm 37 ) windsock.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=buildthreads&action=display&thread=1076 If I can do it, anyone can upload pics for the forum.[/b][/u] I agree with Chris. Get your cameras out. Show us what you are up to. ______________________________________________________________________ To up-load the pics.Go to: photobucket.com/ Log in: The username is windsock_glider and the password is gliderLeft click on the right side of the page where it says, "upload pics or video". Select the files on your computer that you want to up-load by holding the shift key down and left clicking the pics. Make sure you're holding the shift key down. Otherwise you won't be able to select multiple pics and will only load one pic at a time. Once you have done that, wait for the computer to load them onto "Photobucket". ______________________________________________________________________
To down-load the pics to the forum. Left click on the thumb-nail of the pic you want in "photobucket" and a larger version will appear. On the left side half way down the page is a header that says "Share this image". (If it's not already there, left clicking the > arrow will cause a drop down menu to appear.) Left click the box that says "IMG Code". Right click where you want to insert the picture in your post on the "Windsock Slope Gliding Forum". Then left click the word paste. The code for your pics will be automatically inserted into your post. (Chris. knows how to use the code that appears under the thumb-nails on "Photobucket" I don't. The above method works for me.) ______________________________________________________________________ To see if you have done it right,Press the preview icon at the bottom of your post. If the pics show up you have done it right. It took me several days to nut it all out. I hope someone finds this helpful.

Andrew, It would appear that it is just as impossible to delete attachments from "old posts" as it is to add them. We can easily delete pictures from within old posts. We can delete entire "old posts" along with attachments. But we can't just delete the attachments. The trouble with deleting entire posts is that the thread might not make sense after that. It would seem that once the attachments are posted they are there to stay.

Graeme the admins can delete them. I'll delete the one you mentioned when I get around to it.
