Hi guys, Jeff Irvin was doing his thing in his shed last night - building aeroplanes. He had a feeling that he thought was heartburn. It hadn't gone away by this morning so he took himself off to casualty and he is now in cardiac intensive care at Royal Brisbane Hospital. Jeff texted me this morning and he called briefly this evening from the hospital. He had a heart attack last night, and is now as well as could possibly be expected. He'll be a few days getting tests and being well looked after and then he'll be home to be a burden to his family . He asked me to post this to let you know what's going on. I'm sure the first thing he'll do when he gets home is log on , so if you have anything to cheer him up this would be a good place to put it! All the best. Ken.

Mate that’s terrible! The guy’s a top bloke and deserves to be fit, well and back on his feet. I’m sure with his enthusiasm he will get well soon and be out there building and flying again before we know it.
Best of wishes for a rapid recovery Jeff.

I have a feeling nothing is going to keep Jeff from flying, or out of the shed. Get well soon, Eric

Obviously a well crafted excuse to get some more time at home to build the next Europhia 2K.
But seriously, I got a text from Jeff last night and it's a real worry, but great that it was detected early. Jeff do everything you have to do to get better, we appreciate you.
When you're on the mend we'll have to get you out riding a bike regularly! And no more Macca's!!!

Dear Jeff,
GET WELL SOON
You are a beacon in our hobby. Those of us who have not met you yet are drawn toward your enthusiasm and generosity. I greatly appreciate and admire the way your family obviously love you and support your involvement in this very addictive and time consuming obsession that we share.
With current medical management you can expect to live a long and happy life of building and flying. Accept the new medications, get some exercise and treat your body like you would one of your planes and your family and fellow modelers will have you for a long time to come.
Steve

I just spoke to Jane (Jeff's wife) who said she wanted to post some news but didn't know how. Apparently Jeff had "heartburn" around 10 on Monday night, took Mylanta, and when he went to bed at 1:30am he woke Jane with his restlessness, still complaining of heartburn (which he's had before) and his leg was jumpy. Got up at 5:30am, drove in, walked 20mins to work and up 4 flights of stairs, and at 9am Jane got a text to say he was in ICU with a heart attack. They put a stent in and found that the vessel at the back of the heart was totally blocked and called it a "Silent heart attack" - doesn't show up on ECG's etc. Further tests have shown that there is no damage to the heart muscle, so the prognosis is good if he makes some big lifestyle changes (exercise, curbing caffeine addiction, getting more sleep etc). He's having time off work, then taking his holidays too.
Anyway he's apparently feeling and acting perfectly normal now, and is expected to come home late tomorrow. Jane said he would welcome phone calls and you can ring him in RBH Cardiac Care, Ward 3A.
Apparently he's organizing Ken to drive him to a thermal comp on Sunday!

That’s some good news considering and even better news to hear he’s straight back to flying. Ds’ing at the hump good exercise? Not bloody wrong! I was knackered after that day and I’m sure vanders was too…….of course sean never once raised his heartbeat lol. An alternative for fitness is flying with vanders aroung big gum trees
