A quick heads-up. I've just started building a DS plane and decided to document the build in my RC Groups blog. Check it out: www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=156852Not much to see now but I'll update it as the build progresses. Sean.

Can't wait to see this project in the Groove. No doubt it will be a master piece like all your planes that you build Sean. Astan

I pulled the first part for this plane out of the bag today. I'm pleased with the results. This was quite an exciting moment, the Deepend is finally taking shape! Weight is a mere 83g but boy is it strong! Two layers of 200g carbon top and bottom. Still need to cut out the elevator and prep the hingeline. More info in my RCG blog: www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=156852

Thanks Ezza. The twist factor is very good. You can bend it a little along its length if you apply enough force but it's well strong enough.
The elevator is now cutout and the elev is very stiff in torsion. It was a mission cutting through all that carbon though... had to do it with a razor. The pre-faced hingeline worked well.

Gee Sean, that does look excellent. I hadn't looked at the blog recently but it's a great way to record the progress. Those wings look thin! You do nice work.

Hi Sean Respect!!!! Sure is lovely work.
Anybody know how to subscibe to user on rcg?
Sean I had lost track of your progress due you starting new threads. I was suBscribed to some of your early threads.
I have set up an icon on my iPhone. Should be able to drop in on your progress more frequently
ps Internet has been down in my home for past few days. It's getting tedious keeping up with just the iPhone
cheers jeff

I'm not sure how to subscribe to a blog... I didn't think of that! Progress from now should be fairly steady, should have something new on there every week or so I guess. This plane will have a pod and boom fuse like a Supra... Shane showed me how to roll a boom last week, big help to see it done before attempting it yourself.
I'm impressed by the LY3600 resin. This was my first time using it and these are the best results I've got bagging, especially the naked carbon on the bottom.
The wings have a narrow chord but the foil is 10.5% thick so there's plenty of thickness for spar strength and servos. The root is 21mm thick - in comparison my Erwin is 15mm thick and my Orca is 20mm thick at the root.

sean I want to try my hand at rolling DLG booms. Where is the best place to buy unidirectional CF?

CG Composites in Hendra have a really good selection of uni carbon, I think they had four or five different weights when I was there a week or two back. They have a lot more carbon varieties now than when I was there a few months back, and the prices seemed a little lower than I remembered.

Wow Sean sexy tail, was the planform inspired by Drela ? That carbon you got at CG looks nice. Graeme ,have a look at www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1000547 me and Sean are using the "Shaper Dave" way of making booms, one layer of 300 ud carbon is what i use for hand launch boom. Ready to watch high dive into the deepend ;D
