HI Sean I'm sure you will spruce it up with a bit of filler. Could you tell me why kevlar is not used more in fuses as I thought it was stronger? The downside is weight which would not matter in a DS plane.
Nigel.

I just spent over an hour editing some video of today but it crashed and I lost the lot. Will certainly save it in future (and enable auto-save). Bummer.
We went to T-Bones late today - me, Sean and Jarred. The wind was ballistic (there was a significant risk of breaking your plane just carrying it up the hill) but the lift was TERRIBLE. Not great out the front and some massive rotors over the back, with a power I've never seen before. Jarred did OK Dsing his Weasel close-in but Sean and I had some frightening moments. I tried with the Ditza half way down the ridge and did a couple of laps with spectacular power, then tried again and in the turn the plane was literally shot up vertically and then fell like a leaf with no control and wafted to an out-of-sight landing, miraculously with no damage.
So we pulled the pin and headed back to Bald Knob, and parked on the Hump. The Hump hasn't been the same since they carved a road up it, but at least it worked enough to be very exciting today. It was really variable, but Sean got 143 with the Erwin, which was really cookin' given the conditions. The wind seemed too east, but it wasn't. At times there were scary hits and rotors there too. I got the Ditza going and am amazed at how well that plane goes. I got 125, and that was really at my limit.
Nick had a go with the D40 and it shot round super quick, but he planted it into the backside unfortunately and did some damage. The wing and tail are undamaged but the fuse is broken behind the wing saddle, and split below the tail mount. But those D40's are so small! I had to put my reading glasses on just to see that the tiny bits of shiny white in Nick's hand were actually a broken plane.
Very intense fun. Not great speeds, but hard work at that site!

Excellent video Andrew. Very entertaining. Looked like alot of fun. Nothing like a camera in your face whilst your trying to ds......hahahaha. Very good.
Interesting to see the new road. Almost looks like the new 'burm', on the upwind side of the road helps to lift the shear??
Many going to F3F tommorrow?

Should be a good turnout today. Hope the rain holds off! Even Gerard (Windsock) is coming!
The road cutting doesn't seem to have improved the shear, generally. It is sad about the Hump, because it was a beautiful ridge and you could fly from different spots along it. And walking up and down that ridge was the most exercise I got! On the plus side, you can now park right where you fly. It was good on Friday because we got to sus out the best spot to stand, etc.
Hey I reckon we should start an F3F thread on the new site!
