Wow, steady rain.
The wind's forecast to really pick up this arvo and go SE. If it does and if the rain clears enough, I'll be keen to fly at Woody Point. Watch Seabreeze - if it's ESE the lift is really strong at Woody Pt and there's a nice patch of grass to land on.

Anyone interested in a fly at Woody Pt late this arvo? I couldn't head for the hills today due to work, but should be free by 3:30 or so. If anyone else can come, how about a game of limbo. Winner is the one that gets the most passes thru the posts in 5 minutes??? I'd have to find some sort of sticks.

Blaaaaah, it's a WIND DROUGHT!
I wrote something here then realized it's a report, not a plan! So I'll shift it to the other thread!

Hi guys I am coming up for Sat arvo and Sun and wondering if anyone wants to go for a fly. I will be staying in Brisbane.
Could someone tell me what the wind might be doing on the weekend ( local knowledge is allways better)

Hard call at this stage Nige. There's a few of us going up to Maleny for the club meeting on Sunday arvo. The forecast is currently for northerlies, but that could change. If it's N to NE it would be great on the cliff at Shorncliffe, and you'd have a few other guys to fly with.

nige problem with the forecasts lately is the weather man seems to be half cut when making his predictions and up to the minute wind data seems to be even worse ;D been ideal weather for the floaters lately and have recently been shown a potential spot for other wind directions on telegraph road near SC.so could maybe be fun to give that a shot if the winds are off.
pm sent by the way.

The forecast doesn't look great for the weekend. Is anyone interested in hiking up Mt Coolum on Saturday?. Any other options? I'm hanging for a fly. Steve

I'm afraid this is winter chaps. We've been lucky for the last couple of seasons. Have a look at the following site. You'll see that on average July is one of the calmest months at 3pm. Also look at the wind rose to see that it's most common direction is SE and NE but the strength is usually only between 10 and 20 kmh which isn't too good. Strong westerlies only come up about 15% of the time. That's after you've waded through the BOM disclaimer saying wind is one of the most variable elements in climate... www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/tables/cw_040842.shtml
