I'm getting one of these: It's a Vector molded slope aerobat from Falcon Gliders. Amazing value for money I reckon (even comes with bags!!!). Very much looking forward to it. Soon as I saw this model appear I loved the look of it. Will be easy to fit out as it has generous sized servo bays, so no need to use expensive thin servos.

Mine's similar but only black and white on the tips. Underside is wide black and white vertical bands.
I don't need to spend any money on gear to fit it out. For servos, I have a couple of JR 3401's (just stripped out of the now-retired Reaper) and a couple of JR 3150's (from the Minij). I'll use the 3150's for ailerons (they could use new gears but don't think I'll bother) and the 3401's for flaps. Elevator and rudder are easy - the fuselage can take standard sized servos, so I have plenty of options there. Receiver will be Multiplex IPD 7 channel synth. Battery pack AA square Eneloops. I have all that stuff, which is nice.

My Vector arrived this morning and it truly is a gorgeous looking thing. Hard to believe that you can buy this for the price. It came in a massive box with about 300 square metres of bubble wrap. I think they could have dropped it to me from a helicopter and it wouldn't have had a scratch. I had asked AB if he could spare some blue foam scraps and a bit of glass cloth for some moldie repairs and I now have almost enough to get into vac bagging!!
The fuselage feels very light after handling mainly DS moldies! It has carbon rovings down the inside walls too. The wings look fantastic and the carbon joiner is HUGE! with 2 holes down the centre. There's a nice strong ballast tube to be glued in.
Things are too busy at the moment to get into photos etc, but I'll update this as I go along. Cheers, Andrew v B

Very nice Andrew, it looks like my new addition. I received a 2M Crossover from LEG Gliders this week. Mine will not be as smart as yours but the idea is to ease into the larger plane side of slope soaring.
When you figure out how you are going to set up the plane could you post the details. eg if you use flaperons or ailerons and what chanels the servos are on?
Regards, Nigel.

Guys, been a bit busy so haven't started, but I've been reading thru the RCG thread to get some tips (18 pages) and it looks dead easy. I had to order some JR servo horns as I don't have any. I reckon it'll be in the air in the next week or 2.
Nige, it's a full house job, ie 4 servo wings so it will have one servo for each plus the rudder and elevator servo. The channel assignment is as per the Multiplex C@ckpit directions. I'll copy a program from another moldie like the Fazer and modify it to suit. The MPX Ckpt is such a good radio I can almost do it while making coffee and talking to Sean on the phone. Setting up flaps is the part that always takes me the most time ... trying to get full throw with even movement, plus allowing for some reflex. But after you've done it once or twice there's a knack to it, so it's not so bad.
That Crossover sounds interesting - I recommend you go the extra effort and build it with flaps. For 2 reasons: 1) so much safer to land that the plane will last much longer and 2) getting practice with flaps on the Crossover will mean that when you get a moldie, you're experienced with flaps.
The big thing you have to do with maidening flapped planes (that Mikey found out the other day) is you need to have the Tx set up with your flap (or crow) to elevator compensation menu ready to see on the screen when you launch. Get it cruising then try pulling full flap and keep adjusting the comp till the plane doesn't pitch up or down when you pull flaps and it flies nice and level when it slows down. Then you know you can come in for approach and pull flaps and it behaves itself. Very important. Trying to compensate with your left thumb is very hard and sometimes results in a big stall or a nose-in.

Thanks Andrew for the advice. I will keep watching to see how yours goes, Im busy as well and I keep telling myself not to rush especially seen as I brought a Guppy from LEG as well and I am building that first.

I won't be writing a build thread etc - just takes too much time. But I'll update this thread as we go along.

Well um I don't know maybe not. I will take some pics in the morning and as I progress just in case someone wants some advice. I won't do a build thread, although I will do a review of the plane and how it flies.

Thanks to the non-flying weather today, the Vector is now ready to fly. She looks great, and I'm happy with how it went together. It's an easy build, but as usual, it surprises you just how many hours it does take.
Keep feeling that I should now sell the Ricochet, but I don't think I could part with it for the price it would fetch.

Well done Andrew.
Any issues with the build? I have spoken to the manufacturer about some minor issues which they will fix but its still a great model and so far the flight reports seem pretty good.
Look forward to some flight reports on yours.
Andrew
