Hi Jeff, .. There is one potential prob for Monday... The clevises that were supplied have tiny little brass pins and I managed to lose one. The hardware is all 2mm so normal 2-56 clevises don't fit. ... Surprise surprise... Some 2mm clevis's in my shed if you get desperate ;D ;D ;D ;D

Have fun with the Superior Mike! The Orca could fly tomorrow... I'd like to test it somewhere with lots of soft grass first, like BK, or maiden it on the flat. The glass wingtips are very light and look quite fragile, I don't think they'd survive a landing at Pedwell Rd. For that reason I've started making some very short slope tips. They're only about 50mm long, I'm simply carving them from balsa and will finish them with a layer or two of glass. Should make it much more robust on the slope. The square tips give it a really cool retro look .

My new 2nd hand unmaidened but test chucked Espada RL is bang on 2.00 kg, and that's a fragile-ish plane. So altho I'm no expert, I reckon your Superior is seriously light Mike.
Might go hunting for some DS tomorrow.

Nick, that's no problem as long as it's balanced at 200kg each side, not 398kg on one wing and 2kg on the other.

Paul, the original owner/builder did a great job putting this Superior together. The first handthrow at the Woodford winery went about 70-80m down the gradual slope just above the grassline....certainly instilled a big bit of confidence before putting it up the wire. The fus has a repair where it was snapped in half along the boom, so without the extra carbon, resin, fill putty and paint it would have been very light. Andrew...Can't w8 2c your Espada...3.7m span and only 2.0kg is a VERY light wingloading Andrew.
Sean, Nick, Andrew ...now to keep the model in pristine condition while transporting (where I do much accidental damage) I have built wing and fus BOXES out of heavy corrigated cardboard...with the bits in bubblewrap in them. Extra protection for your delicate bits! Makes packing the car and home storage soooo easy. A bit more heavy protection than the standard wing bags.

Sean...just rechecked the pics and see that the wingtips are beyond the ailerons. A nice piece of design work.

I like my aircell wingbags. Anything that has a bit of body and stiffness to it, to protect when you bang the plane on a doorway etc (happens to me all the time) is much better than a soft thin bag. The Espada bags are absolutely beautifully made but I feel safer with the other planes that are packed in the aircell bags.

The pics of my Orca show it with the longer tips fitted, which give a span of 3.63M. There are also some shorter tips that give a span of 3.39M. The balsa stubs I'm making will give a span of about 3.1M.
