Hi guys I have a Starling Pro and I would like to know where to put the hook for bungee launching and do I reinforce the area around the hole?

yes. reinforce the area...
my Fling has the bungee hook right on the CG if that helps.

Nige, if it's a powerful short bungee shot, (like a catapult) you need the hook well in front of the CG - so it gets launched like a dart, and you don't pull up till the line is going slack. But if it's a really gentle long launch (like thin rubber with plenty of line) put it a mm or so in front of the CG, so it goes up like a kite straight out of your hand (like thermal launching). Theres a thread here about it on Windsock: windsock.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=archivedplanesweflybuild&thread=961&page=1

For a Starling Pro, I'd go the hook nearer the nose and shoot it up fast with strong bungee.
Always reinforce near the hook position wherever it is. Not just for launch loads but often that is the part that contacts the ground first and can cop a hiding.
They are a little mushy kiting up on a standard bungee and aft hook pos unless the breeze is good and like to tip stall if they get too slow.
Nice model though. Make sure the v tail pins don't come loose in the fuselage.

I got a Starling Pro built by Klause and the hook is at 350mm. Garth has his at the same point and they have both gone up his bungee line ok.

Nige, if you have a hook installed already you can simply make an "extension" with a long piano wire hook with an eye at the back end. Loop the eye over your main hook and tape the front end down well with bidi tape. Make some bends in the shaft first, to stop it rotating.
But if there's no inbuilt towhook, get a piece of wire and bend it in half. Squash the bend together hard. Bend the hook at the folded end, then just aft of the hook bend the 2 wires apart a bit, again to stop rotation.
If you really heave on the bungee it's easy to tear the hook out of the tape. So for the Nemesis I bent about 3mm of the rear tips of the wires at 90deg in towards the fuse centre, and drilled a hole for each one in the fuse. Push the bent tips into the holes and tape solidly over them. Then they never pull out!

This morning I put the hook just forward of center and put epoxy around the bolt on the inside of the fuse The Hook came with the plane and there was allready timber bracing on the bottom inside of the fuse. I will get another bolt and epoxy it in as well, forward of the first and then I can swap the hook for different bungee's.
