Thought I had better post here to keep up with Sean and Andrew.
Went to Mt Mee today with Garth around lunch to find 10 kts gusty s-e. Flew my Ninja for a while, then the Starling Pro with Garth's Pro. Wind dropped and dropped till 2-5kts, but still enough lift. These planes fly amazingly, and now that we have programmed in different flight modes, sorted out thermal and speed cambers and compensations, and crow working , they just fly so smoothly, gaining lift where there should be none.
Anyway, put my Pike Superior together, took a deep breath, and threw it off into about 2kts of wind. Hit the undercamber and up she went. Played with the compensations and landed it beautifully. Made about 3 more flights, practising the landings and very impressed with how smoothly it flies. Flew the Starling for several more flights in 0kts and such little lift that without undercamber the plane would have just sunk out of sight...landings being so easy with the crow setup.
Flew the Pike again till I could see no longer, and another safe landing, getting used to how great the crow slows the plane. I am so glad I bought this plane...cause I was wondering if I had dived into big planes too soon.
Garth fley his Starling for most of the 4 hrs we were there, at one point having a pushrod to one of the rear feathers break, so in true Garth form...just flew it with half of the v-tail working. He had no problems!!! ;D ;D
