At the Maleny Radio Controlled Gliding Club (MRCGC) club annual meeting today, it was requested that a notice be placed here on Windsock advising of the restrictions on visitors flying at the Bald Knob club site.
MRCGC is a closed club, with membership numbers capped by restrictions imposed by the owner of the land and by Channel 7 who own the repeater facility. Both of those parties are sensitive about any increased use of the site.
Visitors may fly at Bald Knob if: 1) they are members of any other MAAA affiliated club. and 2) they have contacted the club president Greg Roper, had their name recorded as an official visitor, and gained his permission to fly. and 3) they are accompanied by a club member.
The contact number for the club pres Greg Roper is 0409 053104
If anyone who has not met the visitor permission requirements is found flying at the site the owner of the land has made it clear that he will consider them to be trespassing.
Visitors need to also be aware that MRCG uses a frequency allocation system, where each member has a permanently allocated frequency. The club does not use a frequency board and members don't check frequencies before flying. There is a great risk of visitors clashing with members' frequencies, particularly as members may be flying where they can't be seen from the hilltop.
