My nick is the same as in Winsock. www.daddyhobby.comWelcome Chiadennis. Most of the good slopes are 1hr+ from Brisbane. It will depend on the wind direction. I live in Byron Bay, about 1.5hrs south from Brisbane. Some good F3F slopes with friendly LZ down this way. Best in ESE to NW winds. Let us know. Beechmont, behind the Gold Coast is good if there is a southerly blowing. Eric

Just confirm my flight into Brisbane on the 17 Sep - 21 Sep. I have not book my accommodation yet but will probably be in the CBD area. Any recommendation? Not too expensive and nice place? I have asked my wife to allow me to fly on Sunday morning. Haven't got an answer yet. Or at least allow me to visit some slope area around the region. Where do you guys fly during this period and how the wind condidtion? Dennis

Hi Dennis
one of the best slopes in Brisbane is Shorncliffe about 1/2hr out of Brisbane CBD. It is suited to a NE - E wind. depending on if I am working that weekend we could meet over there. You are able to catch a train from the city out to Shorncliffe an then a short walk from train station to the cliff. Let us know what are your plans and we will see what we can arrange

I plan to maiden my Aeromod Alliaj. Didn't manage to maiden it while I was in Phuket in July due to stupid builder error. Anyway I trying to convince my wife to allow me to bring it to Brisbane. If I can't I will still hope to visit some slope site while in Australia. I understand there the Manilla slope fest but i think it's too far from where I am. Picture below is the Typhoon Race in Jeju, Korea this year. I am with the white Vento

Wow! An Alliaj! I love the Aeromod planes - I had a Minij, and currently have a Miraj. I won't be around when you're visiting, unfortunately ... !
That's a great photo. Edit: where do you live? Is it Singapore??
For the Alliaj maiden, it would be best if you could fly at Mt Mee, or one of several spots at Maleny, depending on wind direction. Both are an hour or so from Brisbane. Also Beechmont behind the Gold Coast has huge lift in a SE to E. I'm hoping Sean will be around to direct you to the best spot.

This photo was taken in Jeju, Korea this year in May. It's the first time we participate in F3F race with the Taiwanese, Koreans and Hongkongers. For me I live in Singapore.
Our slope season only last for 4 months from Dec to March during the NE monsoon season. I try to grab every opportunity I can do slope in different parts of the world.

It's amazing how similar the landscape in Korea looks to here, except our hills aren't as high . Your best best IMO for the Alliaj maiden would be Rosins lookout south of Brisbane at Beechmont near the Goldcoast, or one of the Maleny sites. Get in touch if you'd like to fly in the Maleny area (about 1-1.5hr north of Brisbane). Sean.
