Hi guys, as many of you know I went with Futaba 2.4 GHz, called FASST, and can't praise it highly enough. It's been absolutely perfect - bulletproof. That is not just my experience but is echoed all round the world. I can't tell you what that level of confidence feels like: really knowing that I'm not going to get shot down under any circumstances, that I'm not going to get ANY glitches and that so long as I take basic care of my (good) batteries I'm not going to get any lockouts either. Why am I telling you this? Because Hobbico in the US have just released a FASST module for JR transmitters! Here's a link: www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&P=8&I=LXXMV8 Tower also have pretty good prices on FASST receivers. www.keimod.com are even better. Note there's a new FASST receiver which is a tiny 6 channel for $59.99 US which is just about to come in stock. 1000m range makes it perfect for anything but the big planes. So if you're considering making the move and want great piece of mind, this could be a good option for you. One caution is that I don't know if there is any latency difference (delay) when using this module, like there is when using a JR/Spektrum module in a Futaba Tx. Another potential option is that Futaba have just released a new 8 channel Tx that looks pretty good too, but it's not in Australia yet. Ken.

Actually Garth,
I spent quite a while looking at sites like Flying Giants when doing my research. It seems to me the US guys are split much more evenly between JR and Futaba than we are here, right across the flying spectrum (not Spektrum!).
It was reading about their experiences that convinced me to go with FASST. It was always the guys using Spektrum who were having problems, except once. That one was an overtemp issue when they put the FASST 14 channel Rx in direct sunlight under their clear canopies. All they had to do to fix it was put the Rx under the canopy floor instead of above it.
Ken.
