Well another beautiful day at Mt Mee with Garth and Nick. The wind was about 10-12 kts when I arrived about 12 and promised to get better... but it didn't. Died out to 5kts, which had us all looking for any lift available. Then it died...0kts. Absolutely nothing. Maybe tomorrow!

I was keen to join Mike but was kept back by things to do, so when he rang to say it was calm, it was a bit of a relief.
I spent the arvo sanding and bogging a repair I did on the Nemesis, and also pulled the Miraj hinges apart, cut out the foam at the edges and epoxy/ microballooned inside each edge, in preparation for silicon hingeing.
I'm thinking of chopping the single centre Miraj flap into 2 flaps with 2 servos. Not sure if it's worth it, just that all the other moldies work that way!
Mothers' Day tomorrow and an important birthday in the family, so I'm hanging home for the day. Andrew

I will be free tomorrow. If anybody is going through Morayfield way, would I be able to grab a lift with you out to Mt Mee ;D Haven't been out flying for ages and would be good to get out of the house and flying again.

Hey guys, Just thought i'd tell everyone that I lost a bee with some fairly expensive gear (which is probably cactus by now) about a year and a half ago to the left hand side of the slope as you look down it. It was red but is now probably closer to very light pink. A long shot I know but you never know what you may stumble on when traipsing through the bush. On the off chance something has survived I'd love someone to let me know if it ever surfaces. Cheers guys, Morg 0438 256682 PS :I blame Gavin as he busted my control rods on a high speed pass with his bat.

My Bee went down in there a couple of weeks ago...yellow and red. Couldn't find it either.

I even went hardcore and put on all my patrol gear (I was in the army) armed with machete and got right down inside the lantana. That stuff is a hell of a lot thicker than it looks.
I spent about an hour and it just got to thick. (Nearly had a heart attack form the exertion to!)

Morg, I hear you! I had so many bad scrubbashes up there a coupla yrs ago when we first cleared the slope, that I began taking up full overalls, hiking boots, leather gloves and plastic welding goggles! Twice I ended up with badly scratched eyes from lantana flicking back, and once had to go to the eye specialist. Not worth it! Sounds silly but some $2 plastic goggles makes it much easier pushing thru the lantana.
Incredible how exerting it is. It's a bit similar at Lemontree. Common sight to see someone emerge from the scrub with their plane and collapse, chest heaving, onto the grass.
Trying to wield a chainsaw in that stuff is an extreme sport. Standing on a 45 deg slippery slope being tangled by vines and spiked by wild raspberry etc, with lantana crap in your eyes and every bit of bare skin scratched, arm muscles fading fast, goggles fogging up... aaaah, sloping is such fun.

I couldnt find this thread and did a report earlier under the heading...MT MEE AGAIN. Sorry i put it in the wrong place. It was-
"Another gr8 day at Mt Mee with Nick and Garth. We flew from about 1pm till 5pm in lift that varied from light to fair. Was able to have several flights with my Pike Superior, Starling Pro, Slope Ninja and Slope Monkey...all home in one piece and dozens of landing practices. Garth flew his Starling and Albatross, maxing out with both and some pin-point landings. Nick flew his Duck for a bit, but lots of time on his Spirit built-up. A really top day in fun conditions. "

With a 12-15kt s-e forecast, headed to Mt Mee today to meet up with Garth and his daughter bout 11am. Wind was a solid 15 kts straight up the slope. Garth flew his Starling Pro and Albatross. I have to admitt he has the Albatross dialed in soooo perfectly and flew it soooo aggressively that I found myself just sitting and watching it for ages. It is almost as nimble as the Vector of Andrews, and very fast, yet slowed down for several gentle landings. At one point Garth had it doing figure 8s in a space of less than 20m, amazing for a 2.5kg, 2.6m plane. Inverted flight and outside loops were a breeze: well done Garth.
I flew my Noodle, Ninja, Starling and dozens of flights with my Slope Monkey. I realised today what a great plane this is, diving in from vertical, pulling out last moment and rolling. Often 9 rolls before I had to fly it out.
After 5 hours the wind was down to 5kts and we were cold, so called it a day, taking all planes home in one piece. Top Day! ;D

Wow, great stuff Mike and Garth. It sounds very good - when I was out and about I was feeling the breeze and thinking of you guys!
Yeah that Albatross (Woogie) is a special plane. I only sell really excellent planes to other guys!
