Well I thought I'd shoot up to my local slope this morning to maiden the WASP before heading over to Mt Mee this afternoon.
Threw her off made some trim adjustments & away she went, I must say for such a small plane (30") it was very quick & nimble.
As I happily flew around getting a feel for the thing along came a wedge tail eagle, happy to fly around with my little green wasp assessing if I was friend or foe, this lasted about 5 min, I'd chase him then he'd chase me, all was good.
He then started to get a little more serious, as he'd come in towards me, the legs would get into attack position, he was starting to get serious, we played like this for a while, the wasp seemed to be able to out manoeuvre him, but I thought I'd better land & get home to get ready to head over to Mt Mee, as I was preparing to land I was around 6m high & about 20m in front of me, next thing I heard a bit of a whoosh & then a shadow passed in front of me, damm a second one had come in, in full attack mode, as I pulled up on the stick to try & shoot up above him, the first one grabbed my new little wasp & started to fly away with it, I watched waiting for it to drop it so I could hopefully regain control & bring it back, I was sure there would be some damage but nothing that couldn't be fixed, as I watched & waited they kept going, now starting to think it's getting a little to far to be able to fly it all the way back to where I was, I was looking for suitable landing spots below where they currently were. Hope was fading fast, now around 400-500m away I was a little concerned, no wait, a lot concerned!!!!
I thought I'd turn off the Tx in the hope that the LMA beeping might have some effect, but, it didn't.
As I stood there watching the pair fly away, nearly a km now, I hoped they enjoyed that little green wasp as much as I had for the brief time we'd had together.......
Poor little fella is proberbly being violated as we speak!
Part of me hopes they choke on EPP the other half thinks it was a funny experience & a good story.
Oh well better start on the Moth now. ;D
R.I.P. Little green WASP!!!
