Hi Guys, I am wondering about sloping sites to fly when it's a South or Southwest wind down near Ballina.
If Ezza is viewing this forum I am interested what he thought about the hill and rocks at Tallows?
Regards Nigel

Hi Guys, I am wondering about sloping sites to fly when it's a South or Southwest wind down near Ballina. If Ezza is viewing this forum I am interested what he thought about the hill and rocks at Tallows? Regards Nigel Hi Nigel, Tallows ridge is a plane eater. Jungle and huge cliffs make it a little tricky. Lots of tourists etc,. Need to be careful up there as we don't to get the place shut down. Best places in southerlies are Skennars head and the southern end of Lennox has a little cliff. You probably already know these spots though. There is a good bowl right at the northern end of 7 mile beach. It is a long drive in, long walk down the beach, and then a climb that can definately be dangerous for your health. There is water and cliffs all around again though. Unfotunately not many places for southerlies outside of these. SW is a real problem around here and westerlies as well. There used to be a spot in the hills, wasn't much good, but the new land owner is definately not onside. There is some hills out Lismore way that look like they might work good but I have never tried them. Have flown and ds'ed a spot right out near Mellanganee that can be good as well. Outside of the coastal cliffs it is a real drive to anywhere decent with these wind directions unfortunately. You might know of, or find some other spots, but this is all I have found so far. Have to hook up for a fly one day. Where do you normally fly at? I believe you are from Ballina? Eric

Hi Eric thanks for replying. I was only thinking of flying at Tallows accessing from the beach as I know how hectic it gets up the top, Is it possible to do that? I do most of my flying off Skennars but it gets pretty gusty even if the wind is south and if it has any west in it it's not much fun. I have flown that cliff south of Lennox and it is always gusty. I did consider looking at the north end of Seven Mile. I would drive up the beach from Lennox which would not be as bad as coming from Broken Head. Is that spot at Mallanganee on the highway cause I could take the wife for a drive and is it good in a southerly? I have only been flying for 4 months and it would be good to go for a fly one day if it swings easterly. I have an EPP PC-9, a Vector combat wing with a fuselage on it ( which I love). A fling and a Toro 900 wing without motor. I am thinking about getting a Mycro from www.liftworx.com/mycro/to use as a durable light lift flyer. Any opinion on this one? Nigel

Hi Nige, I've flown that cliff south of lennox and with a fast plane it's really nice . Eric introduced me to it and I really enjoyed flying there with my Reaper, a 1.5m EPP plank. Did you know it's also a really good beginners DS site, although you DS absolutely horizontal which is a little unusual it works great!! If you've found that site too bumpy I'd suggest it's more a mismatch with your current fleet than anything else. Try it again when you're comfortable with something a little faster and I reckon it's sure to put a smile on your dial! Go Great! Ken.

Hi Ken
Someone said my PC-9 is fast would that be true?
And if not what would be a fast EPP plane a Reaper? I do like the look of them.

I wouldn't have a clue how your PC-9 will go mate, I have absolutely no experience with PSS planes.
I do with the Reaper though! I reckon the bloke who makes them should put me on commission (Sean as well!) because I just can't say enough good things about them. They are the definitive fast plank so far as I'm concerned, and I'm confident that although there are other good fast EPP slopers and DS'ers there's none better.
