A very special Armidale Sailplane expo will be held from Saturday January 23 until Monday January 25 2010. It will be the 30th time the Armidale Sailplane Expo has been held. In keeping with the history thing we have added a separate RES Nostalgia event along with Open Thermal, Open and Limited Electric Glider and Hand Launch Glider. This year we will have a Trade Display, so you can see the latest and greatest in RC equipment available for your gliders and electric models. The entry form for the 30th Armidale Sailplane Expo is attached. I will keep track of entries etc at www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1114068As you enter I will provide an updated list of frequencies on the rcgroups thread. The intent is to have as many fliers as practical in each heat of Open and RES / Nostalgia to ensure good competition (as well as have fun). See you in Armidale on the Australia Day weekend in 2010. I hope he's told you ;D JIC..he hasn't you can find the Sailplane Expo brochure here www.fly-rc.com.au (under information /events) I've been reading about SEO stuff, so it seems a shameless plug is in order. To provide some clarity to the post of Dec 8th (above).
Some flyers had asked about using 150m line length in Open Thermal. The point was that we will use 200m, as currently permitted under Australian Open Thermal rules.
Although there is a trend for those in the South to run entire contests to either F3J rules (150m line length) or a local rule that restricts line lengths to 150m for Open Thermal, we do not intend to do that at Expo.
But, we will accommodate those who wish to fly with 150m line lengths.
They will be set up to one side of the 200m lines, with a safety corridor.
We would prefer that everyone flew with same length lines, but understand the need of the F3J team to practice.
Would be nice to see your entries.
See you in Armidale,
Hutton

Off to Armidale this weekend!! I'm not taking the Shooter. I had to rush the final installations because of my house move, and I'm just not confident that all will be well. So for once I'll take my time and pull it all apart when I get my move done and make sure all is well. So it'as the deadly Caracho again!! (all tremble in fear ) What I'm short of is winch line. Club supplies are not available despite promises to the contrary (Grrrrr) so I only have 1 new line and 2 used to take, and I only have that much thanks to Bananaman's generosity. This worries me as last year there was absolute line carnage on Day 1 as people got used to being at a big comp. Hutton if you read this can you please ensure that line discipline is re-inforced at the Pilots Briefing on Saturday morning? I'm on the Sunshine Coast until we leave so I'm not going to be able to pick up any more line. If someone has 1 or 2 lines they'd be happy to sell me or have me replace after this weekend I'll be very grateful. This will only work though if we can get the lines to someone who's going. Thanks in advance! Ken.
