Cool video. I noticed how they were starting after the launch. All makes more sense now we have given it a go.
Such a smooth run.

Yeehah! The mighty Caracho is good to go! She's pinker than she used to be, but she ain't no slower We all said we'd come again and MRSSA have responded accordingly so I'm hoping we score a few more guys than last time This time let's make sure we get launches into wind and a course we can fly without worrying about the trees and we can see some sensational launches and a lot more really quick runs!! It'd be great to do distance as well if we can get it together on the day. Yeehah!! Ken.

A. We'll start a bit later so the wind will hopefully be more settled. - 10.30-11.00am B. We'll set the course up faster. (We remember how now ;D) C. We will shift it if conditions change dramatically. D. We'll set up some more winches. E. Most of you now have an idea of what to do so that will speed things up and ....... that means ............ Yeah, definitely. It's supposed to get here on the 26th but I have a feeling it will be little longer than that. Do you have anything from the Sniper build we can look at?

Do you have anything from the Sniper build we can look at? Nothing very exciting, just joiners and boxes at the moment. Current efforts are going into finishing all the panels. I'll be subscribing to your build thread, too. Sounds great. D.

Just to throw a spanner in the works (because that's what I do). Is it possible to start the day earlier? 10:30-11:00 would give us Bundyites only and hour or two before we would have to leave. Then again, we could practise our landings etc. for Armidale in the morning. Anyway, whadayathink? Dale A. We'll start a bit later so the wind will hopefully be more settled. - 10.30-11.00am B. I dont see an issue starting earlier (9:30?), but once the course is up, it stays up. What we might have to do is adjust the winch direction to match the wind direction and leave the course set based on a synoptic forecast chart.

Does anyone want to share transport using the AvB van? I don't want to drive down and back by myself. But I'd be happy to make the journey if the experience is enriched by listening to other glider nuts raving on with impossibly convoluted glider stories. It's better than TV.
e.g.:
" ... at that point I thought I was higher than him but don't forget I was flying the 3.1m Caracho which really gave a perspective problem and the parallax error must have been about 20 metres at that distance, probably just the size of the circles we were doing ... and with the new X9 switch layout I forgot that it was in speed mode however the higher expo set for aileron, despite the lack of differential, gave a false sensation that the rates were low ... but I didn't realize the UV heating from the sun on the unpainted black carbon tip on the left side must have expanded and cause the wing to effectively have a reverse washout! Can you believe that! So there I was circling a small plane in a weak thermal at the same level as this guy who I am sure was in 2nd place to Joe Wurtz, doing twice the speed so I feed in some up trim thinking the CG must be way out - then when I finally look at the mode switch and panic and switch it back to thermal mode, disaster strikes and .....
sorry, couldn't help myself!
etc, etc

Dale has indicated that the Bundy guys are a no-show so we can start whenever. I'm still not adverse to starting a bit earlier anyway. Forecast is for pm showers or storm and based on the chart we could be up for a westerly. www.bom.gov.au/products/IDG00074.shtml David
