I'll try to be there by approx. 9.00am. Just be prepared for a winch direction change if you set up earlier. From a few forecasts I've just read it will be hot (36, so bring sunscreen and shade and water!!) and the wind will be from mostly just west of North. www.weatherzone.com.au/qld/brisbane/ipswich/forecast and www.weather.com.au/qld/ipswich/detailedIf that pans out tomorrow, we probably fly back towards the house which would give a nice large clear area with the course to the west. And the sun shouldn't be an issue until later. There are power lines on the western boundary but they should be well clear. The field map is too large to post here. MRSSA Field Map

I won't be able to make it I'm afraid. Bit bummed about that but too much else on right now.
I hope it's a good day for everyone. I really look forward to doing a few more speed runs so if another day is organised I'll definitely be there.
Sean.

Keen to hear how it went. Was a strong Nthly here all day. An intense storm with some hail went past about 4pm but the radar seemed to show Harrisville as being clear, so I hope you had a good day.

It was hot and windy, but not humid. My little spot thermometer measured 54deg on the ground. General temp was mid/high 30's. The wind tended to be more westerly than expected. The turnout wasn't as good as last time but we probably did a bit more flying. However we had some incidents. Evan had a stall behind the turbulent tree line and badly damaged his model. Ken tried to cook his Caracho from inside out with a failed servo. Ezza had a tail wrap but managed to get away with minor repairs to the tail. The 3 Amigos. Usually the eyes aren't looking that low when turning at Base B ;D David did a mighty job all alone down at Base B. We REALLY appreciated his help, especially sitting in full hot sun. The structures behind are further than they look. Evan mans Base A. That stuff under him was rare. Shade! Ken launches Greg Fazer. Nick mans Base A Nick! There's a model on the course ;D The mechanical retriever, saved a lot of walking. img412.imageshack.us/i/gregfazer.mp4/A small vid from my still camera. One of Greg's runs. Poor quality! Thanks to everyone who came along. Hopefully those who missed out can make it next time (probably late February).

It was frustrating to have plane troubles on the day,
but I still had a great time and would go any day!

Yes there was a bit of plane trouble and carnage on the day. Still had an excellent time, hanging and flying with a great crew. I learned alot. Two days later I think I am just starting to recover from dehydration, despite drinking almost 3.5 litres of liquid whilst there, and about the same on the way home. Sheesh it was hot. I don't think it helped my flying, atleast that is my excuse for now..... Still can't get my Skorpion to launch without a decent headwind. I need to do some actual work on the setup and do some launching practise. Eric

Yeah Ezza the heat really does knock you around, hey. Working out in the sun fencing last week I drank huge amounts of water on the job then after getting home, & was then still thirsty in the middle of the night. Those hot northerlies suck the water out of you and make you bone-achingly tired. Probably been the same for you at the farm I guess.

Be jealous boys,
be very jealous ;D ;D ;D
Guess who is the insanely excited owner of a built, flown, fully equipped including ballast...
SHOOTER
ex Nick Chabrel and soon to be on its way from Adelaide.
After all, you don't turn 50 every day. I have wanted a top-of-the-line F3B model for over 20 years and I absolutely couldn't be happier than to be the new owner of this one.
And for those who may ask - NO it isn't going anywhere near a slope or a tree of any kind!!
Ken.
