I'm looking at getting a 3M model from Soaring USA. Shipping for the model is better than I was expecting at US$190, but Bob from SUSA tells me he can fit a second model in the box for free. So if anyone is considering a purchase from SUSA let me know and we can share shipping.
I'd prefer sharing with someone local, I don't want to have to ship the package from here. With the dollar so strong, now is the time to buy, and shared shipping would only be US$95. If you're interested get back to me in the next day or so.
For those interested the plane I'm considering is the Tracer F3B. At US$950 (about AU$1050 right now) it seems like a steal. It's 3M, all carbon wings, carbon/kevlar fuse, apparently very stiff (nice chunky joiner), and has a modern planform. On top of that it's made in Europe by a well known builder (NAN, maker of the Xplorer). To my eyes the planform looks good, it has 30% surfaces so should be pretty nimble on the slope and land slow. Only question mark is the aerofoil, but from pics of the wing root it looks very close to what the more expensive models are using these days.

Well I've done the deed! Ordered the Tracer today. Unfortunately nobody to share shipping.
If anyone changes their mind it's not too late, but it will be in about 24 hours!

Hi Sean, I've bought a lot of gear from SUSA, including my europhia. The packaging is perfect, and everything has always arrived safely. As for the taxes, SUSA have always included a 'dummy' invoice for a lower amount, so the feds don't get a slice of your money. I will most likely buy most of my mouldies from them in the future, as their pricing (delivered), and customer service seems to be better then what I've personally experienced locally.
The Tracer looks the biz, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Dale

The service to date has been good. Bob answers emails almost instantly if you write during their business hours. I even got some emails from him at what would have been midnight in California.
I bought the radio gear for the Tracer at the same time and received a 5% discount for it, which I wasn't expecting.
