Please take the following comments for what they are: constructive input into a problem that could potentially be the end of our club. Sorry Garth if you don't want to be reading this, but nobody is forcing you.
I understand the difficulties if the owner/channel 7 don't want our lock on its own, but I think it would be worth pushing to make that happen. I would be happy to meet up with whoever I need to to make that happen. We are the only people who don't need to be on BK so it is all the easier for the owner/channel 7 to ban us to make their lives easier.
Further to what I said in my first post in this thread - the locks are all unlabelled. Can we get our lock labelled so that it is obvious which lock is ours? I have a strong feeling that people are blaming us whenever someone gets locked out, but how do they know that when the locks are all unlabelled? I'm prepared to do what is needed here (take the lock to an engraver or make a water proof label).
What is being done to make sure everyone knows how important this is? We know with certainty from previous discussions that not everyone is checking this site and the Yahoo groups.
Lastly as many have already said, people make dumb mistakes. I have thrown models off Bald Knob without turning them on. How easy is it to turn a model on? Pretty easy I reckon. I have witnessed a number of very capable people do exactly the same thing.

Can we put our lock at a different spot on the chain? So that there is chain on both sides of the lock. The chain should be shortened to the correct length so that you CAN"T lock others in.

Guys, most club members don't know that Greg does an enormous amount of work keeping Channel 7 and the owner happy on our behalf. He has been doing this for years. Both the owner and the relevant manger at Channel 7 know Greg and trust him. Greg has already asked for our lock to be positioned with chain either side and for one lock for all BK users, and Channel 7 have said NO. So please stop asking to do anything with the chain or the position of our lock on it. Channel 7 are not interested in meeting with us or helping us resolve the problem. It's down to us to make this work. I have seen disparate groups of people come together and achieve amazing things when they have common purpose. I don't doubt for a moment that we can survive this challenge to our club if we work together and support each other. Sean, you raise some good points: I agree it's a good idea to have our lock engraved, because although Channel 7 know which lock is ours, owners of other locks may not, and they may blame us incorrectly if they can't get access to the site. Would you please call Greg and discuss this with him? As for what is being done to make sure everyone knows how important this is, I'm phoning everyone I know who doesn't often get up to Bald Knob to make sure they know. I'll be checking with everyone I see at BK to make sure they know, and I'll be making sure the lock is correctly positioned whenever I am at BK. I will get my a$$ out of the car every time to lock the lock myself and never rely on a passenger to do so. I will remind other club members and double check the lock if I have any doubt, because we cannot afford a stuff-up. Can you do the same? Can you ask other members to do the same? If we get enough members doing these kinds of things to support each other then I believe we have a very good chance of not only surviving this challenge but of having a much stronger club as a result. Onwards and Upwards! Ken. Who STILL wants to be flying at Bald Knob when he's 90

I am a member of BK now, and to be honest have never unlocked or unlocked the chain/gate. Probably because I have only been a visitor there a few times, and never ventured there alone. I never realised this was such a problem. If it is not too difficult, could someone when there next, and with a camera in hand, take a pic or what the correct locking setup ( and the incorrect one also) looks like. I am a very visual learner, and this could also be a refresher to all...nothing like a clear mental image! Would hate it to be me who inadvertently does the wrong thing....just a suggestion, (I know not the perfect solution.) cheers, Mikey

I spoke to Greg last night, sounds like there may be some things we can do.
Mikey, all you have to do with the chain is keep every lock in series, so no single lock is left out of the loop. Apparently a day or two back every lock except ours was left out of the loop! The other locks are for the other non MRCGC users of Bald Knob (owner Channel 7 etc).

Gotcha...so someone put OUR lock from "chain-end to chain-end", instead of "chain-end to 'last lock on chain series'."

Things have come down a bit, spoke to ch 7 gave them a key, small piece of chain added to so our lock is out the front on its own, down to members now to do the right thing. Cool heads prevail and a big box of K#*! A#!*. Thanks guys very much for your input .
