Gents, Evan posted this on the MRSSA group and we thought there could be some interest from the windsock fraternity. So far we tentatively have 6 of us going. It will be a great weekend of competition and seeing how the "Top Guns" do it. For more info go to www.ssl.org.au/ David Hi all, Looking for expressions of interest for attendees for the F3B event at Milang in SA which is scheduled for 5-7 of March next year. Nearby accomodation is rather light on (and basic) so if there is interest we should look to reserve ASAP. There is better accom about 40 min away at Goolwa. At this stage we (probably David, Jeff and myself) are planning to attend and would look to road freight down winches, flight box and other heavy gear. Then fly down, plane as oversize bagage and radio as carry on. Hire a suitable vehicle to pickup freighted gear and travel to and from Adelaide and Milang. Check you diaries and lets know. Regards, Evan

Hi Dave,
I'm keen to go, just need to get clear of work.
How are you doing with accom and freight? Any room for 1 more?
Ken.

OK Guys,
Milang is only 4 weekends away (after this one for which I'm unavailable) !!!!
Who is up for some Speed and Distance practice at the Strawberry Farm on any weekend day between now and then??
Perhaps we could combine winch-launched fast shenanigans in the AM with slope-racing shenanigans in the PM on 1 or 2 Sundays.
Any takers?
Ken.

BTW,
for those going to Milang, Gerry Carter tells me if you can't launch to 300m+ every time you're not in the hunt!
I'm getting 250-260m (measured on my RAM3) and that looks to me to be about the norm for us F3B-plane-flying SE Qld-ers. So we need to find some more launch height and quickly!!
So for anyone, if you'd like to learn how to launch higher with any mouldie, the Strawberry Farm will be the place to be.
Go Great!
Ken.

Mmmmm circle tows ;D I haven't done any since I got the Xploders.
I've just set up the Caracho3000 to the MC24 2.4, so I'll need a few test flights. Slope tomorrow for flight setup (I hope) and then a few dozen stratospheric launches.
Don't worry Ken, no one can launch 300m+ every time. VERY, VERY weather dependant. You do need to launch higher than everyone else in the same conditions though ;D

OK Boys, provided Nick gives us the go-ahead and the weather co-operates, Lets do launch/F3B practice at the Strawberry Farm this Sunday!! Now I'm leaving my darling wife to unpack after our move on Friday, so you know I'm keen. Jeff and I are starters. All welcome, no matter what you're launching as long as it's off a winch . Brian, both Gerry and Nick have told me the competitive Euros are never far below 300m, and they're over 300m as soon as there's a breeze to launch into. This is of course providing you can steer the launch to be into wind. Let's kick off at 10am, weather and Nick permitting. See you there Ken.

Sad to report I destroyed the Shooter today.
After 2 great flights which showed the plane was as good as ever it was, on the third launch it went off the air and into the ground still on the line, in the cow paddock over the road. It's a write-off this time, no hope of resurrection. I don't know what happened but I suspect a wiring fault as it range checked to over 50m and had 2 good flights. I said F#$K !!
So I am still going to Milang, as a helper now.
Ken.

Was a sad thing chasing the cows away from the wreckage.
Went to Harris... today to have a fly with Ken and several others. A strange day with winch line tangles etc. Ken's plane had been launching hard and flying fast. On 'that' third flight, radio was working until it left the thrower's hand. Nothing much left...the cows even took off with the rear boom of the fus. Truely sorry for you Ken.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, Ken, that's just absolutely terrible. Really sorry for you mate. There's nothing much more that we can say to make the situation better, except to say that our hearts go out to you. A real shame. Terribly frustrating when you don't even know what caused it.
Aaaarrrggh!

Thanks guys! I know you have all lost mouldies, so your empathy means a lot to me. Basically, don't fly 'em if you're afraid to lose 'em. I know the Shooter is the plane I want to be flying on the flat . I just have to work out the details and get another one. Ken.
