Well I have managed to pick up an old glider made out of balsau but looks and feels very solid and also a bungee cord and was wondering if anyone is planning on going over to BR sometime this week would I be able to tag a long and learn how to bungee a glider and let someone test fly this new glider. Otherwise I was thinking of going up to Rainbird rd to test fly it. Will try and post a pic f the new glider tomorrow

Don't test it at Raynbird John! Sounds like a great way to break it.

Is it a bungee or a high-start? Bungee is shock cored and contracts quickly. High-start is silicon tube and contracts much slower and less aggressive than the shock cored.

I'd love to come over and give a hand but am overcommitted with work. It's pretty easy really. But the setup and the method of launching depend on the type of glider (how big is the wingspan and how fast) and whether you're using a short line (for catapult launch) or a long line (for histart, which is like kiting the plane up). For catapult the hook goes up near the nose well in front of the CG, and for histart the hook goes just a tad in front of the CG.

As for the glider the guy I bought it off said he hand built it and didn't have a name for it and it is set up with tow hook and has bungeed it often. It is all balsa wood including the covering on the wings so there is a bit od weight to it. It is a 2 channel very basic so hopefully a good learner. Will hopefully get brave during the week and head across to BR for a try Attachments:

Have you had her in the air yet...... The reason I ask is- am no expert, but looks more like a slope machine than a thermal bird. If the wing loading is much over 11oz/sq. ft, than will be fun off a bungee, but probable quite short flights.
