nick, yeah they look good, especially the 120 inch!!!! dream on!!! but the D60 as sean said, allthough he reckons it will be good for frontside, the carbon bird will most likely be better, and i dunno bout u but the d40 is just a little too small for my liking but i cant wait to see one in action!

Hi aussiejared, whatever crunchie you get for slope use, you have to be prepared for it to get crunched. I speak from painful personal experience, but I still fly crunchies at the slope and love them! It's all part of the game. Mostly they are repairable and when repaired they fly just as well as before the crunch. Sometimes they get written off, and you pull the gear out and put it in your next crunchie. You'll do that because they fly so great that you'll want another one . So do get into crunchies, they're great. Expect to be learning repair skills to keep them going. I promise if I can do it, you can do it. All that said, the best allrounders are the 3m planes like Hutton's Ellipse 2V. It will do everything extremely well, including DS up to the kind of speeds you're talking about. Over those speeds I consider DS to be an extreme sport which needs dedicated equipment. Whatever you get, fly it like you stole it . Ken.

Ellipse 2V gets gr8 reviews and is said to be still a very competive F3B plane. If it is anywhere near the condition of the plane Nick bought from Hutton, than it will be a beauty.

Jarred,
No matter what plane you get, as soon as there's any cash available you'll be thinking about another one that does something better.
Hard to know what's best. My first crunchie was a Minij - very light air flyer. I reckon the Nemesis I had was exactly what you're after, but they're not available now!!! Sixty inch (1.5m) planes are great because you can just pull them out of the car and fly them. They tend to be the "first pick" plane. The Nemesis was amazing. It could slope, thermal, bungee amazingly, and was an incredibly quick DSer. I really miss that plane. From what I can work out, something like the MiniNyx would be similar. Banana also, but they're more fragile too. If you didn't have to import them, the "Slope" in a mid layup would be great. That would be my pick for a 60". But Skip Miller only has them as a 3x layup which is really too heavy and expensive for us.
Bigger flies better, but when you get to 3m they're not as nippy. Smaller planes don't do as well in dodgy conditions but they are insanely manoeuvrable and responsive. I tend to think with your skills you're gonna find it more exciting flying a 1.5-2m plane.
Have a talk to Andrew Barnes of Falcon Gliders - he'll put you straight.

Congrats. You will not regret. Who did you buy it from? Put up a pic and show us all. My new baby arrived today in about 98% perfect condition...you will have to come for a bungee one day.

Great pics Jarred. I was a bit sad to see it go. She's a little heavy for thermal but still slopes well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YWoud9NcdoNick took this video almost a year ago... last time I flew it. Can't wait to see Jarred throwing it around on the slope.

Now how did Garth put it...."You look as happy as a fat kid in a cupcake shop"...you got a great starting plane. I remember seeing Sean fly it at the turf farm last year and trying to ds it using the treeline...should be a load of fun.
