Hey guys, I have worked out how, and more importantly where to dynamic soar. Much fun, and great practice. Ive just hit 300mph (in sim) once, so really getting there with the extra practice. Need a co-pilot to watch my speed for me.
You guys that have the prog, ill see you in there! Look for the "Dynamic Soaring........." arena. If im not hosting, drop me a line, and ill organise it.

OK, possibly left a few things out the other day. The program is Realflight G3.5. Anyone use this? Its a great trainer/practice.
My personal best in sim is now 320mph. And can keep it up for ages, with a trick or two inbetween circuits, and punchouts.
Ive had quite a few people drop by, although only a couple interested. If you do come have a fly at my arena, say hi, and mention your from here. See you out there!

Hi Rossco, I have G3.5, but have never DSed in it. I even created a simulated version of my Reaper before I'd finished building it: If you're interested I can send you the file - it flies just like my real one. I didn't realise you could fly multiplayer online, I'll have to have a closer look, sounds like fun.

Sean, thanx for the offer there! I would most appreciate that. Very good to have something for comparison. And a beautifull air craft you have built for it too! I will swap my new bird once i have it sorted, and agreed on by another party.
In realflight, I only fly the standard heavy ballast Minstral with a strengthened tail for DSing. It handles it the best out of the given planes. Ive moded a few others, and have some custom projects on the go that should overtake the minstral before long.
As far as online goes, very handy and much fun. There is a lot of young.... people on there that can get very tiresome at times, although you can also meet, and fly with a lot of great people all over the world. Simple set up. Hit Multiplayer > Join to get the arena window up. "Internet" is already selected as a place to search (as apposed to a network i figure) so just hit search. A list of all sorts of arenas will come up made by all sorts of people. Go by the obscure names people give them to chose which your most likely to a. get allong with them, and b. get in some usefull fly time. Easy as that. To host... hit Host, under the multyplayer dropdown, with your chosen airfield and such open. My arena for DSing is always called "Dynamic Soaring....*something*" If im there (am right now) come in and show me up!
DSing in realflight is addapted some for the program, although i am convinced it is working on similar principles, along the physics engines capabilities. I have been outright told that in 3.5 you cannot DS... (didnt stop me of course). I have found the perfect spot for it, after a lot of exploring, this is the only trick to get it to work (perfect for getting the game to do it that is). There is a lot of big hype now about G4 too, which can handle more standard DSing, so some may be reserved to think this can do it, when the newest, latest, greatest one is only just getting it going.
Hope to catch up soon. Ive only DSed with one other aussie in there sofar, and he got going very well. Addaptive people we are.

Hi Rossco,
Thanks for the help. Originally I couldn't connect - I think the Vista Firewall was blocking RF. I got that sorted and was able to connect to your arena, but then RF froze and I had to shut it down via the Task Manager. The problem could be my internet connection - it's currently throttled down to dialup speed after exceeding my bandwidth for the month. I'll give it another go now (connection speed is only throttled between noon and 2AM).
I'll PM you the file for my Reaper. Probably not as fast as the Mistral BTW.
Yeah, I'd read that DS didn't work in G3x. You've probably read all this but apparently wind shear is not coded into the game and the designers hadn't heard of DS at the time. I'm keen to try your spot though!
Sean.
