Bear in mind, virtually none of my spars were actually glued in, my wing tips were flapping like bird-wings, and the tape was like bubble wrap. I'm sure with a new, tough build, (even my setup at present) it would go faster - flutter free.

"catastrophic airframe flutter" Love it! Was this at SC? Michael and I got up to Lennox late this arvo. Winds were 3-5 knots straight up the cliff. We took two weasels and had a ds and aerobatic feast! Plenty of close calls, lots of contact. Weasels are great for ds and actually can get a bit of speed up. They are also so light that when you smack into the ground they don't destroy themselves. Pretty much just bounce and throw again. Move of the day went to mike when he smacked into the lip/edge of the cliff as he came out of a ds circuit. This is the one place you don't want to crash! It bounced about 2 feet into the air, flipping around and finished up in perfect hover position, just above the edge, and flew straight back out, and without any hesitation, flew straight into another ds circuit.

Ezza, that sounds like fun! It's an intimidating spot up at the top of Lennox there. I always found my Weasel really hard to DS until I had an opportunity to DS it in smooth air with really low rates, made all the difference.

"catastrophic airframe flutter" Love it! Was this at SC? Nah, Sid's Ridge at Mt Mee Ohh OK, this must have been when those westerlies were on. I hope to try this spot out next winter as it sounds like it has alot of energy. Sean is right, the weasels are great for ds when it is light and clean conditions. We have tried ds'ing them in stronger(20 knot) winds. I have never seen an airframe accelerate soo fast, but quickly loose control because of their crazy roll rate. Pretty funny though. We have also experimented with the bungy launches and found that they bungee launch upto 85mph good but at 88mph there is pretty much terminal flutter. ;D

Incidentally, the terminal flutter wasn't actually experienced. Certainly, there was violent and considerable flutter, and had I continued, I would've been taking my plane home in a dust-pan, but I'm happy to say it's still flying, and in current trim, I think it could probably fly even better.

Have you looked at a Reaper? They're available locally at www.slopefun.com . They fly great and they are really easy to tune (CG and control throws) unlike the Moth which goes great when tuned and not at all great until then. FWIW Ezza says the JW is really easy to fly DS with, even though its not as fast as a Reaper in light to medium conditions, and he should know because he's flown the Reaper, the JW and the M60. I've seen Andrew's Ozprey go really well in light conditions, however as he says above you need to mod it. If you're comfortable doing that then great! If you're like me and just want to build a standard kit then I would recommend the JW or Reaper. Ken.

Hi All Yes i had my first fly of a Reaper Last weekend and MAN what a plane. I have not been flying that long and i think with some more time behind the stick it will be great fun. Very easy to build and with time great fun to fly. link to video of my Reaper flown by Portfox s290.photobucket.com/albums/ll271/slopefun/?action=view¤t=100_5964.flvIf there any locals wanting a reaper i can arrange local pick up. Hey Paul, looks like you got that Reaper sorted out nicely. It's carving up that Pedwell Rd bowl very nicely! You've done well. Not everyone gets the Reaper trimmed out so quickly (speaking from personal experience!).

Hi Andrew Thanks for that yes it was very nice i had heaps of help from Steve. ;D The wind was not the best so i would love to get up there when the wind is a bit better and spend some more time with it. Steve`s reaper is just about done as well so it will be good to get them up at the same time . Paul
