Not sure why this didn't get more publicity. While browsing yesterday I stumbled onto Jo Grini's website. He's calculated that he got his custom Pike Kobra DS up to 318mph by analysing video of it's flight. The video is on his website and when you see it you don't doubt that some of the passes were at least very close, if not over 300. But with no witness or radar verification it seems the speed is far from an official record. Looks like a dirty DS zone, the Pike is getting knocked all over the place, and the speed of each pass varies a lot: www.workflow.as/jogrini/ds/index.htm

I looked at that video. Very impressive. Amazingly good quality. What a place to fly! Must be darn cold - looks like snow hundreds of metres below him! Heaps of speed - pretty wild circles at times. Also the website has lots of good discussion about DS theory - couldn't read it all but is very interesting.
