I was building some cables this morning for a job and while happily crimping away, I started to wonder if I could use the RJ45 connectors for joining wings to fuses for the electric bits. The joint itself from male to female is very good and i've ever only had them fail due to user tampering. (Jamming them it the socket the wrong way) Pics here + RCG the same Q. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=939265#post10750183

Steve would the wires have adequate current capacity for the draw of digital servos etc? Otherwise looks good I reckon - small and light

A I'd say so they are, the cat 5 and 6 are solid copper and i've used them for audio and other low voltage stuff, i'll have a play and let you know.

The fellows on RC Groups made some pretty convincing arguments. You'd be much better off with a "multiplex" connector like that guy linked to.
