Hi Guy's.
Still a newby to RC, so I have no real idea. Two builds, 1 Bee and 1 Fatboy Warbird.
I was wondering if anyone has come across a problem with "twitchy" servo's. I recently completed a build to find that when powered up my servo's emit a high pitch whine and occasionally "twitch" when there has been no input which results in some interesting moments in the air. Is this a problem with interference or is it just inferior quality servo's? The transmitter and reciever are JR and the servo's are no name brand from China. I'm thinking of just replacing the servo's for something a bit more reputable and hopng this will fix the problem.
Any ideas?

Hey dusty it does sound like dodgy servos. Could possibly be a dodgy receiver, crystal or a break in the antennae, all could be worth a look. Another possible problem (have had it once) is the connection from battery to receiver terminal. good luck

yer ell there might be your first problem there dusty.....THE SERVOS The servos that i am sure that mainly everyone uses is hitec servos.....They are probally the best servos you can by for at a really low price of $20-$25 depending where you buy them at.....You would want to get the hitec 322 which are standard servo or just go to Toyworld or any hobby shop and ask if they have any hitec standard size servos in stock ;D If you have any more questions mate, just post here on the thread or just pm me (personal message me) or you can give me a call on 0449183416 but only after 5pm as i have work all day and wont be able to answer the phone Regards, Chris

Get to the receiver, unplug the servos and plug in a decent one and see if it does the same thing. If it does, you know the problem is somewhere upstream of the servos.
If it seems to be the servos in the model at fault, the whining can mean that there's a load on the servo when it's in neutral position (eg binding of connectors, springy hingeing). If so, you can tell by pushing gently on the elevons up and down and the noise should stop at some point when you neutralize the load. The twitching ... sounds like a normal day's flying for me! That sounds more like interference. I suspect the whining and the twitching are 2 different things.

Is the aerial down on your TX? with cheaper RX's this can be a small cause to twitch as well. S

All good advice. Thanks for replying Guy's, much appreciated.
Looks like I'll be conducting some electrical and cosmetic surgery when I get some spare time in the near future.
Cheers!

Yep, replaced the servos with new Hitec's. Problem solved. No more whine and twitch. Took the time to fit a lost model alarm while I was at it and just have to sort out the trim.
Problem now is I want to start a new project and can't deciede what I want...

Ah good news mate, good to hear it’s sorted. As for another model I can easily recommend the wild wing. Quick build, flies great and is generally just a lot of fun.
