Another Aussie in the 200 Club
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice afternoon for us at Wybung with an excellent result for Waz.
Date: Sunday 23rd November Pilot: Warren Green (alkoo) Speed: 218mph (pb and site record) Plane: Opus MCV Location: Wybung Wind: SSW 25-28 knots, gusting to 32 knots Witness: Andrew Barnes (laanguy) Radar: Stalker
Not really worth a mention compared to waz's speed but....
Date: Sunday 23rd November Pilot: Andrew Barnes (laanguy) Speed: 128mph Plane: 2m Falcon Location: Wybung Wind: SSW 25-28 knots, gusting to 32 knots Witness: Warren Green (alkoo)
We arrived at the perfect time to make the most of the break in the rain. Peter was flying a home brew when I arrived so I threw up my old sloppy 2m Falcon to test the terminal speed, used to think it was 180kph but managed 204kph today (128mph). Waiting for Waz to get his Opus ready so amused the two onlookers by doing consistent 100mph circuits inverted. Not sure if we have the inverted category....if so I claim the record.
Landed and up went Waz. Straight away he got a new PB in the 190's. Thought that was it for the day so took some pics of the gun for the record then along came 202...205 then a few laps later we confirmed what this hill can do. 218mph
Well done Waz. Awesome to be there and see the speed in person and happy that I could bring this amazing plane in for you.
Look out Eric....the gap is finally a little smaller.

Awesome news. That is a large jump in speed from your previous PB.
Congrats Waz. Very well deserved. Welcome to the 200 club. ;D

Think no one will ever beat your jumps in PB but its good Waz finally had the right conditions. Hopefuly I can get something fast flying soon with a few days off work. I am falling behind in the speeds but at least inverted DS today was fun with a 2m mouldie and still managed 100mph upside down.

Wow! Excellent stuff. Congrats to you guys. We'll plead lack of good hill and weather.
Andrew I think inverted DS is just insane, and I've seen Sean doing it pretty fast. Now that you've set a 100mph benchmark I think he'll be itching to have a crack at it!

Just watched the video of Waz's 218. Impressive. The wind is offshore and the water is all smooth. More room for big laps than I expected of that site. It has the goods! Looked like slick conditons on that wind direction. Amazing, and Waz is real smooth on the sticks.
Andrew you just need an MC3 to get back on top of the speeds. They are an unbelievable ship, so fast and strong above anything else, that is easily available. 100 inverted is a high mark to chase. Not sure I want to risk anything other than foam chasing it..... I'm sure Sean will though.

I might keep an Opus from the next shipment but it will be a T-tailed version. As for inverted DS, its easy when you have a beaten up mouldie and I actually have more fun pushng this plane to its limits and doing silly things like launching into the backside, inverted circuits, backside aerobatics, etc, etc
So much fun that I have not focused on pure speed.

So true Andrew. I love that about sloping, you don't have to have the latest and greatest to have a great time. Always nice to get out an old beater and fly it. I usually find myself saying, "this flies better than I remember!".
