Well this is for you Andrew ;D a report of the Thunder Tiger Ehawk 2000
Well as the day went on, the wind was a strong Westerly blowing the leaves off trees and the hair off of my head (abit over the board there i admit but still good to read hahahaha) and looked very dull for a fly......
But then around 4pm in that afternoon on the 30 of November i heard the ocean NE calling my name and saying some words....those words were "Come and fly, i am blowing a 13knot NE breeze so come and fly
Listening to the wind i started to think on where should i go to maiden the Hawk....first thoughts were SC but the old and wise grandfather was going to drive out there that late......
But then i asked the old and wise man, What about down at Deception Bay down the road from us.....(i will put directions up soon on how to get there in another post) HE SAID YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
so off i was and grabbed the Hawk, packed it in the car along with my newish controller the JR 9X ;D. We got to the beech and there was a very good 10-15 knots of breeze so i assembled the Hawk to only find that i have left the canopy at home so my grandfather quickly went home to get it for me to only return with more of my planes.....I really do appreciate him, so i got the canopy and put her on........
I am at the edge of the steps just hanging onto the plane doing some preflight checks and then.........
She was off and climbing straight away...A couple of downs clips and she was off and zooming around the place ;D
There was lift everywhere that you flew, high or low to the ground and even out over the beech, there was still lift ;D
I had been flying for about 30mins or so now and wanted to bring her in but the only problem was actually finding somewhere with no lift so i had to get really slow by using the allerions as flaps and low to the ground and she would come in for a landing....nice and smooth and skidding along the grass all the way and stop at my feet ;D Brillant landing i thought. Kept flying for a good 2 more hours before it was getting to dark and we had to go home
Allright now about the flight characteristics of the plane....Flys very well in 6knots with no trouble flying around or nothing and flys very well in 15knots and would fly in more i would say....Now she is a very efficent flyier when it comes to lift ;D i mean i was getting hieghts of up to 250feet and this is just at the beech using the lift from the ocean, steps and trees from behind but man oh man it is brillant to fly....The turning is so smooth when you put in th rudder into it and is so grace full and actually sounds like a mouldie and is really beautiful in the sky ;D. The only real thing i can say about it is when you have the flaps down and flying it is a real floater and will basically just sit there in the wind but you have to get the momentum back up again othwise it will stall a little and will fall about 1.5m or so but other than that she is a real beauty to fly.....
Well thats it for now but stay tuned for more reports,
This is Chris Hammermeister.....
Goodnight
