Question to those who have some good experience with flying wings. Got to fly the wild wing again this afternoon and finally took the time to fine tune the controls. I was hoping I could solve a problem the wing has in roll……any roll that is done at normal airspeed is always a perfect two point roll?! Rolls super quick but as soon as it gets inverted and wing levels the roll just stops rolling for a split second then continues and makes doing consistent aerobatics quite hard. ideas what could cause this? I have two ideas that, one: the inboard fins are blanking the ailerons for a moment or, two: the reflex is causing it- On launching the wing if you don’t give a good dose of up elevator it will become unstable in pitch and flick roll into the deck, thinking that this particular wing has issues because inverted it is at negative reflex? Any ideas or similar experience that may solve this prob, love this wing but little probs like this are a pain lol.

This is interesting. I had a fly of Felix's Wild Wing the other day and noticed the same thing. It looks like the flyer has paused the roll half way, then continued - but you've had the aileron stick pushed across the whole time. Weird.

Maybe too much reflex to support CG a little too far forward? That's how my Duck is set up, and it is a B@#$%^& to roll. Gets there eventually, but not snappy. How much elevator is needed for inverted flight?

hey pij the more I think of it the more I think you may be right and it is CG. Has quite a lot of reflex and used round ¼ stick to hold inverted but feels on the verge of being too rearward as it’s very snappy in pitch, may be because it is designed to have a pusher electric on it? Don’t get me wrong it’s no slouch in roll but these sort of issues have me interested to find/solve the cause. Might try moving the CG rearward, have to add lead to the tail coz there’s none in the nose, the only reason i haven't played with cg, and halving the elevator throw…..if that fails more aileron throw then maybe an “ink” test to see if it’s a fin problem. Keep the ideas coming

Pij forgot to post and say you were right about the CG being the problem in the end. Put 15grams at the rear of the wing ,it’s perfect now and will roll all day. During the recover (defected from the ussr to the uk as well lol) I put a disc of lead sunk into the foam and it flies better then ever before…..these are the funnest (?) things to fly and I can’t recommend the ww enough

I've just read this. The stuff on CG is great. I'd also check control slop as a possible contributor.
