Was just wondering what everyone uses and recommends for batteries for their gliders. The batteries in my Queen bee died and I am now chasing replacements. It was using what came with my Hitec optic 6 controller and they where a flat 5 AA pack. what is a good replacement and what should I be looking for to get the best and longest flight time from the batteries

Hi Wag,
I find that my slope planes use about 250mAH - 350mAH per flight hour. So pretty much any pack is going to give you all the endurance you need.
FWIW I've been using Eneloop 2000mAH AA packs (and 800mAH AAA packs) for the last year and they are perfect so far. They do not self-discharge measurably, so you can pick your plane up after a month or two and just go fly, knowing that whatever charge was there last time is still there. Dick Smith, Tandy and the like sell 4-packs of cells for $25-$28. I think it was Thevon who first put me onto these, thanks Andrew!
I make my own packs simply by hot-gluing the cells together, then soldering wire between them and wrapping in good quality electrical tape if they're not going to be buried into a wing.
Ken.

Ditto on the Enerloop's, I wouldn't use anything else these days, a little dearer but well worth the price.
I use them in everything, digital camera, video camera, torches etc. when you buy the first pack get them with the included charger.

The Eneloops seem to out-perform my Sanyo 2700maH packs. I've been making mine up too, but Andrew at Falcon Gliders now has pre-made Eneloop packs and the price is so good it's hardly worth making your own packs.

Will have alot more eneloop packs next week.
Will have 8 cell AA 2000mah transmitter packs with JR TX plug 4 cell AA 2000mah reciever packs with JR RX plug (square and flat packs) 5 cell AA 2000mah reciever packs with JR RX plug (square packs) 4 Cell AAA 800mah receiver packs with JR RX plug (square packs)
If there is any other commonly used packs you can think of let me know. Having not used Hitec transmitters I am not sure what size packs they have.
