where do you get the kit from? G'day Jase, Sorry for the delayed reply. We bought the Mountain Models DL50 kit from Paul Daniels at North QLD RC. Great guy whom offers prompt service. website - www.nqrc.comThe DL50 has a foam core wing with 3/4oz fibreglass skin. Carbon spars and reinforcing. Fuse is ply pod with carbon boom. Basic DLG that lacks some of the sophistication of SuperGees etc. I also have the Cantebury Aeromacchi. Cheers Brett

G'day Jeff, Thanks for the swift reply. I worked with composites many years ago but nothing recently and certainly not small model parts. Vac Bagging is also a bit of a mystery. Thanks for the epoxy information. I prefer to use epoxy on the DL50 as its probably easier to obtain and I am more familiar with its characteristics. Where did you source the ATL epoxy? I cleared the workbenches in the shed this morning and laid out the DL50 kit. Hope to make a start this weekend. I live in Brighton. Close to SC and Woody Pt slopes. My friend, with the other DL50 kit lives at Narangba which is close to you. Shed visits could be arranged. Cheers Brett Hi Brett >vac bagging.. need to see the video www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11440108&postcount=4a few of us on the windsock have a copy. >atl epoxy.. i buy it in 5kg lots from down the Gold coast usually happy to supply out of my own stock $25 per kg bring your own coke bottles to fill. some info here on vac bagging.. windsock.proboards76.com/index.cgi?board=archivedplanesweflybuild&action=display&thread=1022>shed visit .. It only seemed to flop around in winds between 12-17kts. Anything less was almost a waste of time on the slope. I spent some time working on two trimming aspects: 1. Tail Incidence - relative to the wing incidence, the tail seemed to have a coupla degrees of positive angle of attack. Probably my bad building technique! It was covered in film so I heated the film and twisted the tail until the incidence was similar to the wing. not a neat 'fix' and it only helped marginally. Removal of the tail was not an option at this stage 2. CG - I removed some lead from the nose, moving the CG rearward and it made the most difference. not sure of the exact CG position but can measure it if you like. It now flys as well as Pete's Cantebury PC9 and was staying aloft in 8-10kt breeze on the same slope. Hope that helps Brett

Jeff,
Thanks for the offer of some epoxy and the vac baggin info. I might take you up on the epoxy offer if you have sufficient supplies.
I also tracked down the fibreglass suppliers at eagle farm although I haven't been to their shop.
Will PM re shed visit.

good to hear yours flys in relatively calm winds... i always seamed (is that a word) to have trouble penetrating the wind and had a huge chunk of lead right under the wings.
i'm thinking about reshaping the fuselage and making a fibreglass mould of the outcome and fibreglass the wings... it's still sitting in my room in pieces.

Jeff,
My shed suffered an internal reshuffle recently. too much stored rubbish and very limited building area. This has been rectified but stole precious building time over the last coupla weekends.
We also placed the DLGs on the 'back burner' for at least one model. We were enjoying flying with the lads at SC and Woody Pt and decided to purchase a coupla Bevolutions (EPP flying wings).
Just in the process of finishing the wings and then hope to re-start the DLG project.
Thanks for the inspiration. I will let you know when we make a start and can arrange shed visit.
Cheers
Brett
