Direct link: www.windsock.net.au/safari_09.htmlThis year I have decided to kick off Windsock Safari, an expedition of the slopes. Windsock Safari is an area that you can post photos and reports of your trips to different slopes. From the Safari thread on the forum I will archive the stories on Windsock.net.au.

Hey Gerard,
If you ever fly at any of the Sunshine Coast sites give me a yell.
Moffat beach has become my favourite local frontside site, the lift there in the right wind is strong and smooooth. Only problem is I'm usually there on my own. It'd be good to get a few guys there for a get together on a weekend.
Rosin's LO in a strong SE is awesome, I've only been there a few times but I reckon there's nothing on the Sunshine Coast that compares. Plus it has a fantastic view.
Sean.

That would be great Sean. I'm hoping to go to Moffat's beach in the next few weeks when there's a good NE. Steve said he would be keen to go again so we might be able to get a few going. I think you said that you have flown at Point Cartwright, what's it like?

Gerard, if we sift back thru the old threads there are a heap more stories ... Wild Horse, Fred's Ridge, Mt Coolum, Byron, etc. There's a "Locations" thread, and a "Extreme Sloping" thread from memory. Jason did Yeppoon etc. Steve (ex-Atmosteve/ Lucky) did a really great report about lots of sites. There's enough there to put lots of info into the new section.

I've moved some of the previous expedition trips into an archived folder under the Safari thread. The forum needs a good clean out

Pt Cartwright is good in an SE. But if the wind gets too strong it stops working, the air becomes too horizontal. Great up to about 15kt I guess. There is a shear cliff on the other side of Pt Cartwright that faces approx NW. I've never flown it, could be good.
There's a nice little spot just north of Pt Arkwright up near Coolum. From Pt Arkwright walk about 5mins north and there's a little cove facing NE. It has a shear cliff, rocks below and not much much room to land so it's always a bit of a thrill to throw something off there. In the right wind lift is huge.
