Hey guys, hope you're all doing well, I've got a short report from Southern California. I made it here safe and sound. Still recovering from the jet-lag (The local beer isn't really helping) I flew my first Californian slope this afternoon. Philip from RC groups kindly picked me up from the naval base and took me up to Blossom valley. What an awesome slope! There were a few para-gliders and one hang glider up there but we kept well away. I brought my little yellow Wasp up with me and had a good fly. Philip flew a few different mouldies. It's the first time I've seen one fly. Man they are fast!!! (and sound awesome too!) The lift was a little bit patchy but it was still a lot of fun. Philip offered me a fly of his Nyx (awesome plane!). I had to decline because I fly mode 1. I did set up a rudder-aileron mix on the Wasp (so that it was more like mode 2) and give him a go so that I could snap a few pics. All up I had an awesome time. The wind, sun, and beers were all good. I'm glad I didn't see any rattle-snakes either! Hopefully I get the chance to do it again. Here are some pics- Take care, Jordan

Hey Jordan thanks for keeping in touch! Fantastic stuff. wish we could try out some of those sites. That's the only reason the Yanks get all these big results - it's their hills. We Aussies are actually much better flyers, and our raw talent just can't be fully expressed due to the limitations of our sites. One day we'll make a quick visit over there and blow them all away.
Keep the reports coming please!

;D Thanks Andrew, I feel kinda privileged to be flying these awesome sites. Don't tell my work though! They are paying for me to be here and I don't want to be seen having too much fun. These yanks are top blokes. They've really helped me out since I've been here. Yesterday morning all of us foreign students were treated to an educational(free!) tour of the USS Midway. She's an aircraft carrier that has been turned into a floating museum. It is absolutely awesome. The flight deck and hangar are packed with planes and helos. There's pretty much every aircraft they navy has launched off a carrier since WW2. A must-see if you ever make it to San Diego. I took a heap of pics for future PSS inspiration. Now back on topic.............. In the afternoon I headed back up to Blossom with Dan. We met up with Roger and Bruno and walked up to their DS spot. It's the first time I had seen DS (other than on youtube) and I was impressed! The noise that Rogers big 60" wing made was awesome. Dans little glassed Weasel was tearing it up pretty good too. I watched for a bit trying to work up the courage to dive in. I'm so glad I finally did! I never thought that flying circles would be so much fun. Now I can't wait to get back and do it again! Bruno gave me a fly of his Wild Wing on the frontside. It was my first time flying mode 2 and I was useless. It's a cool plane though. Apparently they are moulded EPP and they come with all the tape and stuff. And they're only $20! The highlight of the day was when Roger fired his 60" wing straight from the back of the hill into Dan's Weasel over the front. It made a hell of a thump! We looked up and saw daylight between the elevon and wing but it was still flying. It flew fine for the rest of the day too. Amazing!!! Some pics from yesterday- Bruno on the frontside. Looking down Blossom Valley towards the coast. Dan and Roger DSing The Weasel still flying............. ...........and doing DS laps with a munched wing! Regards, Jordan

WOw! That's unreal. Tough life Jordan but hey, someone has to do it. Your story reminded me that yesterday Ezza and I had a midair DSing at Lemontree, in the "shallow bowl". It was a hard hit even though we were going the same way. Poor Ez had just patched up the JW and the crash tore a few inches off the end of one elevon. Couldn't find it, so he just kept flying and DSing it as is, and it seemed to go perfectly OK!

WOW is the word! Love those slopes! I personally wouldn't consider it off-topic if you posted some of those pics you took on the carrier.
