The South East Qld slope gliding fraternity today sadly mourned the passing of a well known identity. Andrew vB’s Minij was a regular at various sites over the last 20 months or so. Andrew vB was at the sticks when the Minij breathed its last. Windsock asked him about the circumstances of the tragedy. “Around sunset I came home via the wasteland field at Bracken Ridge, parked and walked in with the bungee gear and a coupla planes. I hauled the Minij back on the Hosemonster bungee … yeah, I guess pretty hard but no harder than many other launches she’s done. I let go and halfway through the launch, poof!, she just broke up” Mr vB was visibly upset and couldn’t comment any more. Other flyers interviewed by Windsock were shocked by the accident and expressed strong feelings. “Man, what a shame. That was an amazing little plane”. “That thing could stay up in nothing!” “It’s surprising it lasted this long, considering how badly that guy flies!” were some of the fond comments made this afternoon. One analyst suggested that the Minij could be rebuilt, an option which Andrew flatly rejected. “Nah, that little thing was so full of bog and cracks. It just wouldn’t be right to keep her suffering any longer. It’s time to let her go peacefully.

You have my sincere condolences Andrew.... I never met the Minij personly but I have only heard good things about her. Its always difficult when you loose a family member BUT in sloping there is always a better bird just around the corner. Chin Up And thanks for a great post. Steve

Bummer Andrew! It sure has had a good life though!
Keep the ailerons if nothing else, you might be able to use them as elevons on a future foamy build.

I bet she never felt a thing, one could only wish for such a quick demise.
Another victim of the dreaded bungee!!!!!

thanks guys. I just need some space now, and some time to grieve quietly alone. And to search the net and dream about a replacement. Yeeha!

Steve, yes I really do want the Miraj! But the gaping hole in my life can only (sob) be filled by a 60"er that can be thrown in the back of the car in 2 seconds, and that can fly thru the narrow gap in the trees at Woody Point! I'd love the Miraj otherwise.
Felix, you're actually the 3rd to ask for the wreck!
