The Naked Duck was flown into a large tree at the right side of the Brandenburg Rd last Sunday. I was not distressed as they all come down eventually and Pete an Sean were checking each morning for me - thank you Guys.
On Tuesday morning it had come down but was not on the ground.
Tris and I went up there yesterday and searched the whole area - no Duck. Given the S-SE wind on monday night it must have been on the ground below the tree or on the road. Someone has to have picked it up.
Fortunately it had my name and phone number clearly labeled on it. Unfortunately the person (read ****) who found it was not honest or considerate enough to ring. .... Good Bye Naked Duck
I now plan to buy several lengths of electrical conduit to take flying so that I have some chance of retrieving a plane in a tree.

You would think it would be useless to the general public and they would call it in. If someone that flies picked it up you would hope they do the right thing instead of thinking they just scored a new glider.
However don't give up hope yet, I had a glider missing at SC for 4-6 weeks a few years ago. I had given one of the locals my details as I thought it might have landed on his back roof (but couldn't see). One day after a big storm went through it turned up in his backyard and he gave me a call. She was faded and the rc gear was far gone but she flew again.

Has it been arrested for indecent exposure and taken into custody?
In all seriousness, sorry to hear.

Hey Steve, really sorry to hear it. I had a quick look around on Wednesday but couldn't find it either. Have you tried asking at the houses up on the hill above Brandenburg?
Pretty distinctive model, I don't think anyone could fly it too much before someone recognised it.

I only just read this one, though I had seen mention that your Duck was missing, Steve.
It's very sad. But perhaps asking at the houses might help.
I usually (should be always) take a tree-pole with me when I fly, sometimes even at the flying field, as our original club has a few trees close to the flight line and landing approach.
Our tree-pole is actually an extendable tree-trimmer, which has a snipper operated by pulling a string. Occasionally the snipper is useful, but more often the hook shape at the head of the pole is useful, to get a stick or branch out of the way to let the glider come down.
What I don't have is my name or address on my Duck. Pretty stupid of me. Must rectify that.

Thanks Pij
The tree was 100' tall and Tris managed to park the Duck right at the top.
I think the tree loper is a great idea but this one called for a chain saw.
Thanks for the PM on DV

I think I should sell my services as a wing retriever…..haven’t failed to get a wing yet (although I did fall flat on my back from 3metres and wind myself haha).
Sooo what’s the goin’ rate?
In all seriousness though it would be a major PIA to lose a wing like that!
