Mark - Mike - Bill - BEE Experts
Al and I purchased a Bee wing each on Sunday from the RCWarehouse as they are now stocking them.
Do you recomend sanding smooth before taping ?
plan calls for taping the 1/2's together or would you recomend glueing?
Any other suggestions - not in a hurry to build so would look forward to any suggestions / advise on the build covering taping hints. If you have seen my JPerkinns wing you'll know in the taping department I have much to learn
Thanks - Knoxie

Now with me bee i have just taped the two wing halves together....it works perfectly fine and is great for combat flying os that when you get hit it just bounces off and starts flying again ;D i didnt worry about sanding or anything and with the taping, spray the wing with 3M77 and the put the filament tape on and then spray it again and put the colour tape on......When applying the colour tape, run a cradit card or something similar to that and that will give you a big difference in your finish ;Dand also overlay the tape by about 5-10mm and start from the leading edge of the plane to the trailing edge ;D

start from the leading edge of the plane to the trailing edge ;D While that may look okay, it's aerodynamically and practically a bad idea. On a combat wing you're alwas having impacts and the exposed front edge of the tape can get caught on things on the other person's plane - I know from experience, have video to prove it Then there's the aerodynamic aspect - lumps and bumps disturb laminar flow, but in all seriousness, this is a Bee, so it won't really make that much of a difference to its performance - until 2 or 3 weeks later when you've had the leading edge of your tape peeled off from combat.

...Basically what Chris said is what I have done when assembling my Bee's....Here is how I assembled my latest Bee... 1. Glued in the spars with Shoe Goo.
2. Glued the two wing halves together with Shoe Goo...(as mentioned, just taping is enough).
3. Spray with 3M77 adhesive and apply filament tape as instructed. As Chris mentioned, going over the tape with a credit card edge or something similar is probably one of the most critical parts of applying any tape. Lightly sand afterwards to take the shine off the filament tape.
4. Spray with 3M77 and apply the coloured tape of your choice. I try and overlay this tape as little as possible, starting from the trailing edge to the leading edge, smoothing out the tape with a card edge.
That's how I did it!!!.. Mike.
