I tried the Maroochydore Bunnings for light weight spackle yesterday. I have prevoiusly purchase Red Devel from there. No RD and no idea on when/if they will have it. They had another brand of "lightweight" spakle but the tub was so heavy I couldn't carry it to the checkout. (may be good for ballast if anyone needs that)
Has anyone else had a problem with supply of RD. Is there an acceptable alternative. Any ideas on suppliers ( preferably toward the sunshine coast, but I will be in Vegas for a W/E soon)

I got my Red Devil filler from Bunnings in Bundy a couple of months ago. I recall there was another brand that seemed equally light, but I got the RD as it was the one people had been mentioning.

I've often wondered if the spackles that feel heavier in the tub gas off to be much the same weight when set as the ones that feel light in the tub? Not sure.
I've always used Red Devil but recently bought some Selleys spackle because it's all the local hardware has. It's heavier in the tub, I'm not sure if it's heavier when set, but it is definitely much harder and sands better when set. If the spackle is to be used on your JW Steve I wouldn't be too worried about any potential extra weight.
If you want to stick with RD try Maroochydore Bunnings, I can't confirm whether they have it right now, but they've always had it when I've looked in the past.

Steve I like the Bostick Quickset Lightweight filler a lot. I've used the Selleys as well but prefer the Bostik - seems lighter and creamier. Mixes well with PU. It's at Bunnings and is in a white tub.

Ditto on the Bostik, spreads easy & sands well. Comes with a spatular attached to the lid.

Bostic specific gravity = approx 0.5 Red Devil SG = 0.37
Therefore an extra 1.3g per 10ml. Probably not significant.
