Finally! I have completed my work space, it had been begging to be completed for the past 3-4 months and was holding up the show on the model building side of things.
So the weekend just gone, I found a box of motivation and completed the bench setup and started on the Blanik.
A little background, the Blanik L-13 is a twin seat glider that is mainly used as a trainer for those new to the gliding world. It very stable and robust, made from mainly aluminum it can stand up to heavier landings.
There is a two version i have seen, the L-13 and L-23, the L-23 being the younger of the two and standing out with a T-tail. Caboolture gliding club has a silver one that I see from time to time.
This version is a 3.3meter 1/5 scale model, the plans a very accurate and detailed, mainly pointing out the de-hinging flap setup, which is going to be a tricky build.
OK, pic one is the finished bench's, Stepp3 in the background and the almost completed Eclipse Tail siting on the shelf, yes another to finish. I'm just waiting on some covering for that one.
Pic 2 is the tail section, I'd had 75% of the parts laser cut, which makes the job alot easier.
I just have to pick up a few rods and balsa during the next few days to complete the tail. The rudder should be a quick build as well.
Fuselage which i quickly looked at on sunday, is a mixture of EPS foam and balsa, but I'll grab some images closer to that for you guys.
More to come...
