Hi guys, been a bit since I have posted a build.
The sagitta xc is a 14 foot TD ship, old school! All built up she should tip the scales at around 3.5kg, but with a span this big the "float ability" should be there.
I'm dropping in a few modifications to the original that was made by Airtronics and Dream Catcher.
Counter balanced rudder will be deleted and replace with an extended and taller rear hinged one.
Scissor spoilers at this stage as long as the bank balance allows for them. Spoilers moved out a bay or two to move spoiled air away from the elevators.
And a fair bit of carbon for strength.
Build log is on my web space and its easier to update that then this forum with images. Apologies if that in advance.
So, TD (or thermal duration) is a buzz at the moment in the US, and to fully setup a composite bird, you are looking at a SXC from RNR to fully make yourself perform. So to start of as newbie in this field, why not fly something that i'm used to and started flying back when i was a teenager, the RES class.
Added to the model is a small GPS and Alt logger to feed back audio to the pilot via a Mini FM TX. Its the cheap cheat out of it at present, but we will see what I can source when the $$'s come up for a professional unit.
From what the US guys say about Alt loggers, once you get about 1500-2000 feet they really start to earn their money. I can appreciate that, flying smaller class RES and speckin them out.
Anyway here is the URL for the build log and feel free to ask any Q's on it.
Hopefully I can have her done by this summer.
