Hi, I have ordered a pair of D60s.
Got a little time before they're made. What colours would be best for Dsing?
Don't know how the ballast is setup in them. Should I get a ballast kit too or just make it?

Has Joe said what colours will be available on the D60?
I find white with fluoro orange tips about the best for visibility, but I doubt Joe will make them in that colour.
I reckon I'd get a yellow or white one and put fluoro vinyl on the tips.

Oh yeah... ballast - I'd get the kit - by the time you made your own you'd probably spend nearly that much anyway.

He hasn't published colours but said I could get whatever he could provide.
If that makes sense.

Hey Brian,
Well done on the new ds toys. They will be really fun, high performance, well priced, airframes. Good to hear Joe is making ballast for this one. No ballast available on his other ships. So far all the color schemes Joe has brought out are good. He always uses different colors on the top and bottom of the wing, which works well. Can't go wrong really.

I think the best thing is:
On top: light colours but orange fluoro tips. Colour changes have angles (45 deg or so)
Bottom: Main colour dark, with some big thick bands in very light colour with lots of contrast. YOu really only need one big band per wing (like the thermal guys use).
When you get lots of practice it probably doesn't matter as much but I find that the big difference in colour and stripe direction/ size between top and bottom really helps the brain to keep track as things get wild. And the fluoro tips are amazing. It's worth hunting for the darker orange fluoro, which really lights up.
