Well i have just finished building my queen bee and was wondering where the best place to learn how to fly it, Anybody know a good grass area where i wont hit trees or water around Nth Brisbane. Have paddock out behind me but onlt suited to a strong westerly or North west and the property owner would probably shot me as well..

Hello wag67 Probably a better question is - "where can i go so that somebody can teach me to fly" Possible to learn on your own but much more enjoyable and positive to be taught to fly. AVB gave a good answer to your previous enquiry.. windsock.proboards76.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=chat&thread=450&page=1#5371Shoot me a PM if you live in the Burpengary area and I can give you some time on the MPX EasyStar - Will give me a reason to finish it. cheers jeff

i have got an aera where i learnt.....but it has trees and that but you will be fine....there is a hill with a strip of grass all over the hill and you can launch it off of there and out into the slopes;D It is Sorncliffe......
hey, i had never flown a slopie before and my first location that i flew at was at SC and was sensational...all i did was start on the hill and gradually went out to the slopes so yer......do you have any flying experience at all....and if you want you can have a go at my bee untill you want to go to the bigger slopie the Queen Bee ;D
I am going to be out at SC on saturday arvo (possibly all day if the wind is good) and i might be able to come down on Sunday dont no yet....but i am sure there will be some1 down there of an afternoon...So if you want we can meet at SC and i can give you some pointers and help you with your first flight;D
Regards, Chris ;D

don't think SC would be the best place to learn slope with a queen bee.that's a big chunk of foam to come down in the wrong place and even mike will tell you they are not the easy to land there.if your comfortable flying chaz37's wing then that woul be a safer bet. i taught myself to slope with a fling and later an electra off sand dunes camping in pottsville! took me a whole day to get the hang of it.by the end of the day i could hand catch it not a prob.the 2nd day was sloping, thermalling over the sand and even (after a few cans of dutch courage) soaring the breakers. 3rd day i was straight off the cliffs with the fling and haven't looked back. beauty about dunes is it's very forgiving/soft and there's no one to collect.with the efficiency of the queen i reckon she'd do a good job of dune soaring ;D
good luck.

SC isn't a bad spot to learn to fly, just avoid the big trees and you'll be right.
on something the size of a queenbee i would recommend flying there in wind atleast 10kts, even 15kts or more would be better.
I took my aermacchi flying there on a 25kt day and it was fun, it's also the sort of plane that needs 15kt minimum.
SC has awesome lift and works best with an Easterly wind and even better when it's ENE.
hope she flys well.
