I would like opinions on ways to go about speaking to an owner of a new flying site I found. Apart from the obvious is there any special things I should take into account and should money be offered?

Hey Nige(will get sth when leg better), I was up Binna Bura way on a NWtly and saw a spot I thought was ok, the field was full of cows . Unsure of who the property belonged to I drove up to the nearest house and simply Knocked on the door.Having explained what I was about to the misses of the house I was directed to the fella who is a farmer. Having explained to him that it was just myself and son for an hour or so and that we would take care not to hit cows or damage property, jump fences etc he seemed ok. As the cattle wondered if he gate was left open this was his biggest concern, so I assured him the gate would be closed.I spent about 15-20 mins talking to him about what he did,I did and the models etc, general relationship cultivation, then went and flew for the hour I said we would.Having made sure all the gates were closed and then spent 15 mins(much to my sons misunderstanding)looking for him, I thanked him for the use of his property that all the gates were closed and chained, all left pretty much as we had arrived. That's all we did and he said come again next th wind blows the right way. I don't think money should be offered unless the owner heads your conversation that way, besides would you have enough cash in your pocket to cover killing a beast or for some sort of litigation
