hi jay are you new to the area? living at noosa? some great flying sites here if you are new im also looking forward to your photos regards nick Hi Nick and thanks all for the quick warm welcome. I have only started flying again in the last month prior to that my "friend" reversed my roll control on my transmitter and when I went to fly the plane it smashed into 3 parts and kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I have fixed my EPP F20 Tigershark and am starting a combat gliding club here in Noosa, I have a couple of good places to fly and have had some interest from passers by, but please let me know which ones you enjoy, I fly allot at the paragliders spot at sunshine beach it is good with 12 - 40 knots, 45 knots gets a bit tricky as the turbulance throws the plane around a bit, but I have installed a gyro on my roll so no more problems in high speed winds ;D . Will be uploading my photos tonight after dinner so stat tuned!

Gyro in a slopie...am knew so whats it all about. Have never heard of that before. I just put it in there to correct roll movements caused by low altitude Turbulence, makes flying a treat , will be interesting how it performs in combat .

Regards, Jay

How do I get the images to come up in the forum? I love the look of your photos with the pink sky. To get your images to appear, see this thread: windsock.proboards76.com/index.cgi?board=forumadvice&action=display&thread=285If you host at ImageShack, you can post the link, or the thumbnail, or the full-sized image, or a re-sized image. I usually resize to 800 pixels manually before uploading. Still, if I feel the pics are an optional accessory to a post, I post the thumbnail. If, however, I feel the pics are essential to the post, I post the 800 pixel pic to Windsock. Using thumbnails saves bandwidth for the viewer who may not want to see the image, and also saves bandwidth for ImageShack.

no i haven't flown granite bay but walked there many times to go surfing and that bowl would be unreal and flying keeping the people guessing where you are sounds like fun, i used to slope the low sand dunes at peregian and try and get my shadow to stay on the people sun bathing, that was even better fun in your hang glider as lots of girls up the northern end of sunshine beach were naked in the back dunes and when you put your shadow on, off, on, off, the looked up and freaked out, there is a nice spot out the eumundi kenilworth rd for when it blows sw, a bit hard for me to explain over a keyboard, i have two epp planes, a duck and a skua, both made by wowings at montville, might see you soon regards nick

How does the skua fly? did you ever fly with Kye? I have seen him jumping his planes on Bald knob "that is the worst name for a location" when you talk about bald knob people look at you funny and think you are talking about your manhood. Granite bay is good providing you stay above the walking track, if you go under it be prepared for some garbage wind and rocks/trees etc. I will most likely go for a fly this arvo at sunrise if the wind picks up which I think it will. Have a good day!

lunch time hi jay the skua is fantastic, i love it, it's rather fast for a epp plane, faster than a duck, you can slow it down and thermal it as i have caught some nice thermals at bald knob, yeh your right it does sound a bit suss, and no i haven't met kye, i also have just got back into gliders in the last year, good luck this arvo, i flew raynbird yesterday for the first time on the ne slope and i had a ball. have fun nick

Tell more about the gyro....is it a heli one, where do you put it, etc. Am intrigued. Hi Mikey The idea is just the same as why fighter jets use gyros just for more stability some might think it is not needed but it does make flying easier and looks smoother, it is a gyro out of my old GWS heli and the gyro is positioned in the cockpit along side the receiver and measures and controls roll in the plane. it is quite nice when launching as many of us know when you launch into wind the plane will always go straight up, down or any other direction where there are trees bushes etc. the gyro comes in handy here as well because when you launch the plane normally banks to one side and the gyro corrects this so makes launching easier, great for teaching beginners eg. my fiancee . let me know if you have any more Q's I plan to put a gyro on the pitch as well just have to save up on my 1st year apprentice wages Regards, Jay
